Is it just me or does seem a bit weird to have the the seem of the passenger back quarter panel so close to the line that goes through the door?

Are you talking about this "Seam"? That is the Join Line for the Rocker Panels. It is very common to place Join Lines like this near a Feature Line like this to help it flow better with the design.

Yes, that's the line I was talking about. It just looks too busy to me. Couldn't Ford have made that join line parallel with the line that runs through the door so there weren't two lines so close to each other? Perhaps many cars have this type of feature in their designs and I'm just being too picky. It could even by a strength issue in the stamping of the panel. For me, I guess it all boils down to aesthetics. In certain angles with the right kind of light, the join lines seem to be really noticeable.

It really doesn't have anything to do with strength because it's more than likely going to be a Polyurethane or Composite Rocker Panel like most Modern Cars use. It's really just a styling thing commonly associated with cars with Rounded Door Corners because they usually sweep up at the rear, so it is the logical place to put the Break Line. I actually really like it.

Lots of Cars have it today.

Good eye, they could of raised it by 1/4 inch or so and it would look so much better. It is so close it looks much worse than the cars TampaBear67 posted.

Look at how the Hyundai did it. They put it so that it just follows the line from the door. (I hope you see the image I'm talking about- I'm a little green when it comes to pasting photos here) even the last 2 Jags have a much larger and better looking distinction in this place, IMHO. Gawd, that F-Type is just beautiful...
