Doesn't it only void the warranty if used in a "racing context"? Sure is a legal gray-area if so, but at least there is somewhat of an opening, if so.

That is my understanding as well. Parking lot by yourself? Roast 'em!

Man, seeing that prop rod still irritates the hell out of me but judging by the photos, there is not much room given with those weather strips on those seams for the hood

Ford clearly stated using line lock voids your vehicle warranty. Nothing else was stated about the other features like launch control though it does say for track only. My guess is when you use line lock the action is recorded in the vehicle ECU or Brake control system

Where did they say using line lock voids the warranty? They say racing will void the warranty.

Read in an article, believe it was in motor trend. There was also a video of it when talking about line lock

Maybe I just don't get. Why do they include and tout a feature that is obviously intended to assist someone when racing, but then in the next breath say it will void the warranty.

My understanding is the burnouts increase the tire temperature to improve traction, and they lay down rubber on the pavement which also improves traction.

Please clear up my confusion

I also don't understand this grey area on the line lock. It's meant for racing but racing will void your warranty. I have a "theory" on maybe how they'll know how your using it...
Could the car drop a pinpoint on a map (that it saves on it's memory) every time you use line lock and depending on where it is they'll know if you did it at a track? Is that even legal??

The line lock is intended for use on race tracks but you can use it jn parking lots all day without voiding the warranty. Only thing that voids the warranty is the act of an official race not activation of the feature...

It's absolutely ludicrous. "Hey new Mustang owners; your car has this awesome feature for racing, just don't use it!"

All the line lock does is lock the front brakes independently of the rears so you can do a nice burnout without using up the rear brake pads. This is beneficial in drag racing to clean/heat the tires. But it is also beneficial everywhere smokey burnouts need to happen (aka showing off etc). I would hardly say the feature is "just" for racing and most likely will be used for show off type activities much more often. Just to note launch control and track apps both say to be used on a closed course or something similar and there are no warranty issues with using those only if you use them in an official race setting. Line lock or not, drag racing will void the warranty so it's a useful feature for those who do drag and ignore the warranty implications anyway and it's a toy for the rest of us that will be used a couple times for those of us that want to do a controlled burnout without putting extra wear on the rear brakes. Ppl getting up in arms over "a feature that will void the warranty if you use it" need to think a bit about how it actually works. Because that is not at all the case, it's an over simplified view that leaves out obvious details.

Never thought I would want to own a silver car, but this color does the car justice for sure

You will love it...shows the lines on it better and best color in appearance even when it is dirty... both car n truck are silver... aside the obvious on the windshield, it still looks ok... have not had a chance to wash the truck since last ice storm here in the dfw area and rains and every time I want to wash, it rains again....lol
