Picked up an 8" display to replace my 4" from another mustang. Are these as simple as a plug and play? Or, do I have to have Forscan to program it to my VIN number (rookie here).

Perhaps someone with Mustang knowledge will know more.....but in my '16 Interceptor (Explorer) there is a lot more to it than swapping the screens. Companies sell kits for this that are around $2000

It might be a lot easier and less expensive to trade your current car for one with the system you want.

Huge project.

I have to ask, have you done this already. I know folks who have and it really wasn't a big deal if you take your time and don't rush it. There is plenty of help available on the this forum, especially from @HextallS550.

It will need to have the configuration data updated.

I have not, I wasn't even sure it was doable but based on the threads I think I might be able to do it.

No. My answer is based on watching a friend try to do the exact same thing. Perhaps he just didn't really know what he was doing. I wish you success.

Not a big deal, just make sure you have all of the parts. It is more than just swapping out the electronics. The hardest part will probably be the programming changes required. When I swapped out Sync 2 for Sync 3 in my previous Mustang, I bought the package from 4DTech. I followed their video when I did it. They also have a video on swapping out the 4 in. for the 8 in. The only thing they will not have in the video is the programming required as they provide a device to flash the changes required.
