From memory, measuring the pad and backing together with a caliper it's 11mm.
You may have a different pad then the Carbotech's I measured, and these numbers are for a Performance Pack caliper. The backing plate measures in at 5mm and the pad material is 12mm for a total of 17mm for the entire pad and backing plate together. These numbers hold true for both front and rear pads.

There is room in the rear for some additional material on the pad itself as with the piston fully compressed there is about 1/4" of piston travel before the pads make contact with the rotor. I have to make more precise measurements and get the data to Carbotech and they will see about adding 1-2mm more material to the pads to get better use of the available space.

I have not looked into the fronts to see if the same amount of room is available.

Update on my progress.

I got a scan tool to run the ABS motor which seemed to make the pedal feel worse.

I'm hoping that by running the ABS module it freed up some air bubbles. I'm waiting for some more fluid to come in so that i can try pressure bleeding the system one more time.

I'm not very optimistic though so I've been researching how a master cylinder behaves when its failing. It seems like this could potentially be whats happening. Has anyone else experience a master cylinder fail that can tell me what it was like?

Thanks!

How much pressure were you using to bleed the system? You could of damaged the master if using much pressure. Did you bleed both spots on the front? My guess is you have air in the system unless you damaged the master with the pressure bleeder.

I bled it with 15psi like the instructions say. I did bleed both spots on each front caliper.

However, i have an update. I found out the front drivers side wheel bearing is rocking bad. I think this is tied to my brake issue because when the wheel rocks it push the rotor against the brake pad which then pushes the pistons back in. This would also be why the braking is the worst after turning.

I'm going to take the car to a dealership today to see if they can warranty this.

Dealer found the axle spindle nut loose. They tried to say it wasn't under warranty because I took it off when putting aftermarket lowering springs. Only problem with that is you'd never touch that nut when putting springs on. I showed them the install instructions and they agreed to warranty it. I'm hoping this loose nut issue fixes my brake feel also.
