Is there any interest in a used Moddiction Nav unit? I got one of the ones that was sent out in the first batch, installed it - used it (the only problem is the fact that the clock is off by one hour - a known issue).. I'm returning the car back to stock because I'm turning it back into the dealership due to them falsifying the contract - and I'm probably going to buy a Premium, so I won't need the Moddiction nav unit. Comes with all wiring, instructions, bezel, screen, etc and works perfectly.

Hey guys. We are looking into getting nextgen but it is more difficult than expected. If we can't secure that software they are available to purchase on eBay for $35 on a micro sd card.

As for replacing rear SD card, while it isn't quite as easy as if on front, you do not need to disconnect unit or anything. It would just require upper trim being pulled off and then the 4 bolts holding screen in to get access to SD slot. No more than 5 minutes to get to SD card. I could probably do it in 2-3 minutes.

Nav software is stored on SD card only so you can't load it from USB and then remove USB drive. You need to have maps stored on the card or flash drive.

It's his way of downplaying the fact that you have to remove the trim above the radio and unbolt the unit to access the SD card if you need update the maps. Risking breaking plastic tabs and scratching things every time you do it.

You still have not answered the direct question: WHY DID YOU REMOVE THE FRONT SD CARD? More specifically, WHY DID YOU DO IT THE DAY YOU SHIPPED OUT THE UNITS and downplay it by simply saying you moved the SD card with the Nav software to the back?

And, furthermore, you answered a question in post #453 in this thread in a very slippery way, you said 'There is a slot there still...' I guess technically that is correct because the hole in the front of the bezel is still there but, apparently, there is no longer a SD reader behind the hole.

Personally, I'd like an explanation for why this was done, what harm would it have caused for the front SD card reader to remain? Why deny your customers of a way to upgrade the Nav software without removing any trim pieces?

I'd like you to ship out the piece you removed; if I have to pull apart my dash again, I can reinstall it and not have to pull apart the dash anymore.

I didn't pull anything out. Manufacturer had to relocate location they said. It was a last minute change they had to make it seems. I'll see if there is a way to get harness for front slot or not. I'll speak with manufacturer on Monday. I've been out of town all week and still am but once back I can look into that more.

I know I'd be interested in hearing why; other, similar units retain the front slot in the bezel (and also have a back slot, although, as I understand it, if a card is in one slot, the other becomes inactive).

In my opinion, it's a serious downgrade to the unit, because any changes to the Nav software require the end user to disassemble their dash, to some degree.

BTW, I noticed a bug yesterday, need to investigate a bit more. When playing music through the USB dongle, and running the GPS, my system crashed and rebooted 3 times. The second 2 times, I can definitely say it seemed associated with tapping the upper left corner to display the turn-by-turn directions, then touching one of the displayed turns. I don't recall if/what I touched immediately prior to the first reboot.

I must say, the unit is awesome for the price. Some people may be getting scared cause we bring up these things but only just looking to make it better for ourselves! I mostly paid it just to have my small screen go away cause it was not appealing. This is much better and I hope for some updates to come to only make it better!
