I agree with thet33, it's not like Nextgen is a secret or anything; that's why people come to forums, right? To find out this kind of stuff.If the other system hadn't come with the different map software most of you guys wouldn't even know to go and look for updates. Everyone who bought any of these chinese units should have known what they were getting into after reading the forum for the past year or so.
I partly agree with your second point, that's why I said early adopters usually bear the brunt of working out the kinks. As far as being Chinese units, LOL, that's where ALL electronics come from, can't get away from it.
However, as the price point escalates (i.e. - these units are more expensive than TopTom), I would expect a more refined experience. For where AM looks to be pricing the Raxiom unit ($800), I would want it to be smooth as glass and, yet, the testers report the same time issue we have.
From my own personal experience, the rest of the system seems pretty OK; the GPS software, or how the system handles it, is what seems glitchy as hell.
That, coupled with my gripe about removing the front SD reader, are my 2 major complaints about the system, at this point.
