If the other system hadn't come with the different map software most of you guys wouldn't even know to go and look for updates. Everyone who bought any of these chinese units should have known what they were getting into after reading the forum for the past year or so.

I agree with thet33, it's not like Nextgen is a secret or anything; that's why people come to forums, right? To find out this kind of stuff.

I partly agree with your second point, that's why I said early adopters usually bear the brunt of working out the kinks. As far as being Chinese units, LOL, that's where ALL electronics come from, can't get away from it.

However, as the price point escalates (i.e. - these units are more expensive than TopTom), I would expect a more refined experience. For where AM looks to be pricing the Raxiom unit ($800), I would want it to be smooth as glass and, yet, the testers report the same time issue we have.

From my own personal experience, the rest of the system seems pretty OK; the GPS software, or how the system handles it, is what seems glitchy as hell.

That, coupled with my gripe about removing the front SD reader, are my 2 major complaints about the system, at this point.

Well, ordered a bag of four retaining clips for the dash trim piece from my local ford dealer, will have in one day, no shipping, well pick them up tomorrow morning. I lost so many clips in taking the ac vent trim piece on/off that now it doesn't sit completely flush against the dash, need those clips even at $8 for the bag of four, lol.

And now I am going outside to trim the palm trees and mow the grass even though at 10:40am the heat index here is all ready 109F!

Hey guys. We are looking into getting nextgen but it is more difficult than expected. If we can't secure that software they are available to purchase on eBay for $35 on a micro sd card.

FYI. The least expensive maps for North America I could find on eBay are $61 ($56 + $5 shipping); the $35 maps seem to be for Europe.

Hey Terry, did you use that part number or just tell them you needed clips for the dash trim? I'd like to pick up a few from the local dealer as well.

I used the number given in the thread, the guy at the dealership was dumbfounded that I knew it, lol.

If I remember correctly, IGO8 is older than IGO Primo.

The one on eBay says maps are current as of 3Q15; I'd just be happy with something that doesn't crash the system.

If you ever get access to your SD, go to the navigation folder on your PC/laptop and grab a file called "crash.txt" and send it to me, I might be able to help you with it.
But most probably it's a faulty SD

This was actually marketed and sold to us as a much better unit without the tom top issues. The software for nav is from 2011 I'd be looking for an update regardless.
