Why Phone and HDMI?
Just use your SD card

The simpler the better
I agree somewhat but since our front SD slot is deactivated, that isn't really a convenient option. A thumb drive with all your movies/music would work, though. Probably find a cheap one with just as much, or more, memory than your iphone.

Did anyone actually try moving the SD to the front?

The pic shows the flat cable that connects the front SD slot to the unit, anyone remembers seeing it on their unit?
WHY did someone remove this????

Sorry i don't get the point since my unit, Raxion and Rosen have it.
Mine doesn't have any issues so this can't be the reason.

Has anyone explained WHY, I have gone through most of the post after one week out and i don't see anything.

Even happier with my "full & uncensored" unit.

EXACTLY!!!
why would someone remove that without explaining??
I'd be so pissed off since I paid for something and I expect to get everything I paid for, without anything MISSING.

The video to promote the unit was based on a front SD slot; post #450 on page 30 stated they moved the SD card to the back slot. This was the same post in which they stated they were shipping out the units.

On page 31, post #453, in response to Rabid74's question, they state there is still a slot in front; they never mentioned that literally there is a slot, but nothing behind it. Much later, X0AYHAM0X specifically asked if they disconnected it, and they replied yes. And, still, disconnecting a cable is not the same as removing the cable plus the hardware from the unit.

I am pissed, I plan on calling Moddiction when they return on Monday. Basically, my opinion is that what they delivered wasn't what I bought. The SD slot in the front should be functional, so we have the option of putting the Nav software, or whatever else we want, on a SD card in the front slot.

They should either send out the electronics they removed so we can reattach them, or replace our units with ones that have functional front SD slots.

what about something similar to this:

https://www.amazon.com/48cm-Sd-micr...2457&sr=8-2&keywords=micro+sd+to+sd+extension

SD will be much faster than USB for movies
Interesting. I guess that could work for him. Depends on how he feels about that and making it look aesthetically pleasing. not sure its long enough to route to glove box.
Hmmmm, if Moddiction can't/won't supply the original pieces, that might be workable. 48cm is about 19 inches, long enough to make it to the glove box, I think.

what's the point of the sd slot anyways? are you going to remove the unit every time you want to update the contents of the sd card?
You mean the rear SD slot? I dunno, because everything I've read says that, if there's a card in the rear slot, the front slot becomes non-functional (which, itself seems weird). So, as you say, if the card with the Nav software is in the rear, in order to update the Nav software, you need to pull your dash apart each time. :frusty:

If the card is in the front slot, it's easy-peasy to switch out.

It seems like a good idea. I just read over a hundred reviews from different suppliers, mostly negative. I guess the part you would connect to the unit is extremely flimsy and does not secure well. It would probably fall out of its slot and you would have to take everything apart to reconnect. Sounds like a bit of a hassle to me.

I thought the updates are done through the USB cable that attaches to the back? Perhaps I misread.

Could tape the cable to the back of the unit, it appears that's what the OEM manufacturer did, according to the picture. May be worth a shot, if no other options. The concept of pulling the dash apart everytime to get to the SD card is just stupid.

Same here, isn't the SD card just a memory location to hold the nav software, all software updates and inputting of extended tagged media such as movies and music can be done via the aux usb cable that comes with the unit and is run to ones glove box.

Im under the same assumption. I figured thats why Moddiction didnt need to enable the front slot. Since everything would be done via USB cable.
