I never had a good experience with the Blizzaks in NY winters. My favorite were the Firestone Winterforce followed closely by the Michelin X-ice.

I also used to put bags of cat litter in the trunk of my 05. Not only was it extra weight, but it helped if you got stuck.
Which blizzaks? These WS80s are supposed to be superior to the X-ice in pretty much everything except wear and road noise. That said, mine are whisper quiet except above 70 mph where they have a small hum.

I have blizzaks LM32 running them at 30 psi. I had no problems in that first snow we had here in Chicago. I didn't drive yesterday in the slush. Just take out some air and we will notice a big difference. 5 pounds will do a lot.

Hakka r2s are better then anything else at the moment by a large margin. I like the general altimax arctic for vehicles that can run 17s. Definitely better than blizzacks.

running less air makes the contact patch bigger. Thats the opposite of what you want to do with winter tires. The narrow is better. Wider rides on top of the snow and digs in less.

I was looking at getting some of those nokians but found a crazy good deal on the blizzaks. I'm very happy with them so far, even knowing the nokians are better.

Dont misunderstand me, blizzacks are a good tire. The r2s are very pricey and not worth it to some. I was just throwing it out there for those that are unhappy.

Both are good but I would also have to side with the R2's.

I got my Sottozeros for extremely cheap so I went with those this winter. Definitely not as good as those two judging by the tread pattern.

Conti dws06. I like the all seasons because they drive like summers and winter is 95% dry here anyways. Plus with 540 treadwear I can use them in the summer when I feel like switching it up. I didn't have any issues yesterday. I run 38psi I just prefer road feel. Contact patch stuff was mostly true with older bias ply tires or really cheap tires that have shitty build materials and soft sidewalls OR running too fat tires for the rim widths.

Not to start a argument with you or anyone. I have a few friends have been in the tire world for a long time. One has been been district manager for 20years. They say that less is better but that you shouldn't run your tires above the manufacturers recommendations which is 32 psi on cold tires. This is suppose to be the max that you run in a tire. You don't want to drive around with hockey pucks as tires.

I didnt say to overfill. Your post suggested you removed 5lbs from your tire. Which isnt good for winter traction, which is underfilling. Unless i misunderstood your post.

Yes I think you misunderstand what I had said about the 5 pounds. I was telling the op that he should take out 5 pounds of air cause he is running them at 35. Which is to much. Like you said overfilled/under filled are both bad.
