Can anyone verify something for me? I checked out an EcoBoost Premium over the weekend. I thought they came with illuminated sill plates (per Order Guide dated 7-1-14) but this one did not have them. Is this a dealer installed option?

All Premiums have illuminated sill-plates... except, for some idiotic reason, 50th Anniversary Appearance Package cars, which have aluminum sill plates.

That will be the very first mod.

Will that be a simple swap and harness connection, or harness install?

^this - if it was premium and didn't have illuminated sill plates it had to have been a 50th package car.

Nobody's sure yet. I'll be taking out my aluminum sill plates to see as soon as I get my car.

They came with basic sill plates to immitate the 50th anniversary. 50th anniversaries come with basic ones because there is a VERY cool numbered one they want you to order when you get and open your 50th commemorative package. Call Ford Show Parts 1-800-367-3788 to order the sill plates for your LE.(or at least get on the waiting list.)

Love my aluminium plates with my 50th package. There's plenty of other ambient lighting in the cabin, I'm fine the way they designed it.

Me too. I am just putting it out there because it became available in the 50th anniversary commemorative package they sent out and a LOT of times no one opens them. Mine is open and everything is read. lol I think the sill plates are supposed to be a representation of the old mustangs before there was illuminated sill plates! They look really cool and they are numbered though.

Illuminated Door Sills

I just bought a Ruby Red Metallic GT Premium with the 50th Anniversary Appearance pkg, auto trans, and loaded out with Nav and all the other bells and whistles. The one thing I noticed it doesn't have are the illuminated door sills. My 2012 GT Premium had them, yet this 2015 model with more equipment does not. I thought they came standard on all GT Premiums as per the order guide. Can anyone out there tell me what package you have to have to get them and also, is it possible to order them from Ford parts and have them installed ? As always, thanks for the help guys !!

The 50th Anniversary Appearance Package substitutes special aluminum door sill plates for the lighted plates. As of yet nobody's been able to convert it back to illuminated plates. There's a kit offered to the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition owners, but as far as I know it just glows white, and not in MyColor colors.

I have a 2015 GT Premium with the 50th Anniversary Appearance package and do not have the illuminated door sill plates, which to me looks like hell. For that kind of money they should include all the bells and whistles. I suspect they were just cutting costs, rather than trying to mimic the older ones. I couldn't find any numbers on mine either. Where are these numbers supposed to be ? If they can be gotten from Ford and the install isn't too hard, I will be doing that next. Also, does anyone know if the shock tower brace on those cars with the Performance Pack will fit on the other cars like mine ? That would also make it look better. Thanks guys !!

John, my car sounds very similar to yours.

I too am disappointed in non-illuminated door sills with the 50th AP.

I believe the number previously mentioned is for the 50 Year Limited Edition cars.

My 2014 GT had illuminated sills and got a lot of attention - maybe someone will figure out how to mod and hopefully with My Color.

Regarding the strut tower brace, I was also disappointed that it is not standard on GT Premium as it was on my 2014. However, you can add it with or without the black "K" brace in rear. Details are here in the forum - search for 89Trooper. Parts are available from Tasca. Here is a pic of mine after adding both braces and RedLine hood struts.

Sorry, pic upload failed - never had a problem before.

I think you can get normal illuminated door sills but it won't work with mycolor I think they are just ice blue

Don't know what you mean by "numbers." The Limited Edition x/1964 serial number is on the Limited Edition cars; you don't have a limited edition car; you have the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package, which is not limited.

The shock tower brace does fit, yes.

Ford considers the aluminum door sill plate to be an upgrade over the illuminated door sill plate, which is why it's on your car.
