Illuminated Sill Plate

I have a 2015 Mustang GT Limited Edition. I installed the illuminated sill plates using the factory connectors but they do not illuminate. The Ford dealer told me I need to order/install an ambient lighting kit, but I do have cup holder, foot well, etc. What is needed to ge the sill plates to illuminate?

they change colours only in premium models
