The pedal returns all the way to the stop with the spring out. First thing I checked when I removed mine. There are no worries about the throwout bearing riding on the clutch fingers.
Good to know, thanks for verifying that.

Thank you. Can't wait to pull my spring.

I'm thinking I should do this right now.

This is my first manual car so I iust thought it was regular.

Just worried about it being too heavy.

The pedal assist spring in the Vette was designed somehow to make the pedal lighter, and to also keep the pedal all the way up when the pedal was not being depressed. Kind of a "over center" mechanism.

If someone has the spring out on the Mustang, can you grab the pedal and make it move farther upwards when it's already all the way up?
My pedal will move ever so slightly up just a slight bit, I think it is more slack in the pedal linkage. Can someone confirm a very very slight movement almost wiggle?

Just pulled mine out, I'll test drive tomorrow. There is a difference in effort but not much. I also noticed how hard the stock clutch is to get smooth, so hopefully this helps.

With this being such a common "mod" and numerous questions to Ford as to why they have it, I'm surprised Ford hasn't commented on why it's there.

I did this this week and it really is night and day.

A side effect of the slightly heavier weight and more normal feel is that the clutch travel feels much shorter now as well. Short enough that I went down there again to double check that the pedal was all the way up.

I just did this 1hr ago and the fuking spring shot out and hit my right eye ball. Hurt so bad. I thought I was going to go blind. But I am ok.

Please wear safety glasses.

Clutch feels great :headbang:

Did it shoot off the pedal that harsh even with the pedal pushed all the way down before popping it off? Definitely wear safety glasses!

I pulled mine off this evening and I broke one of the ears off the top pivot. Hopefully that doesn't stop me from putting it back on if I want to. This is probably one of those parts we can find on eBay if we need another one.

I will commute to work without it this week and then figure out what I want to do. The pedal is noticeably heavier but seems to engage/disengage more 'normal' now. Hopefully 1st gear launch is smoother now.

Anyone else considering doing this....I used 9" locking needle nose pliers as suggested in earlier posts. Grab a coil, pull your head out (you don't need to look at it once youve locked on) and pull it toward the brake pedal to the right.

Mine came off easily without breaking anything.

Glad you're ok!...great mod but not worth risking injury!

Hang the broken spring up there and that would work just fine too.
