Yep, I would love to have the imports come back full force. At 36 years old, I do remember the awesome days of the 90's and early 2000's. My first car was a 1994 Ford Escort GT with 150 HP, but it was amazingly fun car to drive. I went through 2 engines and 1 transmission, but it was easy to work on and replace parts. I loved that car and love being different. I turned it into a Saleen Ecort GT with the Saleen stripes on the side. It was lowered with 17 inch Enkei's wheels which was pretty big by those days standards. It did have a exhaust on it as well and strobe lights in the headlights.

I then had 2 Lexus IS300's, one came with the L-Tuned (TRD) package. That was awesome! My last four banger was a 2009 Coblt SS turbocharged with the Stage 1 kit. I only lost one race to a V8 car and that was to a C5 ZO6. This was by far one of my favorite cars for the sleeper look and the blow off sound. It was an awesome car.

I grew up around V8's. My dad had a 81 Chevy truck with a cammed 383 in it. He also had a 82 Corvette as well. He still has both! I use to argue with him regarding imports vs. domestic. At that time, I was a 4 banger fan. I didn't see the light until I purchase my C5 ZO6 in 2004. I then purchased the Shelby GT in 2009 and now the 2015 GT PP in November 2014. I would not go back to imports, unless it was a family car. However, I would love to go back to any import car show (HIN) from 90/2000's over any domestic car show. The import car shows were the best and you saw people like Francine Dee and Jeri Le.

No just due to the Ammount of ignorant fanboys there would be. The GTR is bad enough for ignorant fangirls that think it's unbeatable.

i don't really think imports died, but you just grew up.
Japanese performance pretty much did die as it's nothing like it was. Hell the last gen of Supras and were nearly identical to today's Mustang GT in performance numbers, 15-20 years ago. The RX7's weren't far behind and they did it with at least 100 less hp, and in the case of the Supra, only a little less weight. The mustangs of the day weren't even close. They don't make any modern equivalent of those cars today.

The WRX, EVO, and occaisional special variants (ie mazdaspeed) are all that's left.

The last supra's were pricey for the time though, but I'd love to see a modern version done well.

My daily is a lightly modded 'speed3 (lowered with a Corksport SRI & exhaust)... i have nothing but love for hot cars no matter where they're from or who makes them.

Yes, see my sig, I'm a fan of the VR-4. If you go into it knowing what it is, big comfortable Grand Tourer, you'll have a blast in it. Highway cruising it was so comfortable.
I've ridden in plenty, loved everything about them. Came close but got beat out in buying a GVR-4 years back, then bailed on a chance at a Starion once too, definitely want one of those on day also, but with a 4G63 swap or maybe an LSX in it.

I love the Rotary but not the MPG that comes with it.
I do wish the Japanese will start making some sport/performance again. They've been chasing after the sales and economy for long enough!!

I miss DSMs from the 90s. AWD turbo 2-doors that were cheap and easily moddable for great power. They were so light to, and I had a couple of them. Lol a couple because they weren't reliable at all, but still finding a 2-door AWD turbo car is next to impossible for a reasonable price it seems anymore.

This Thread brings back some fond memories for me, After I sold my 93 R33 Skyline GTST and My 93 Supra I was impatiently waiting for the next hot inexpensive Turbo RWD coupe to pop like an S16 Silvia, I saw the Toyota Supra concept at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show and knew instantly that if (and that's a big if), It ever sees production it would be out of my price range , A non GTR Skyline would be awesome but unlikely, so all my hopes were on Nissan making an S16. Funny how Ford built it for them with the EBM!

The Japanesse forgot the things that made them mighty in the Mid 90's,

Nissan:The Z went the way of a big ol NA V6, the GTR is $100k, No More Silvias either.

Toyota:Most sporty thing they have is the FRS! There are no more Supras because they were too expensive for their niche, Lexus also went the way of a big ol NA V8 luxobarge with the RCF which starts at over $60k.

Mazda: Their most sporty thing left is the MIATA after they killed the MS3, nuff said! I'd love an RX 7 with a piston engine, most people I know have swapped out the rotaries anyways.(I have two Friends, with FDs, one has an LS swap, the other a 2jzgte)

Mitsubishi:Killed the Evo, They currently have nothing I'd even want to be used as my Hearse.

Subaru: The last remaining player in the market, hasn't done much for the WRX in years. Knows an STI BRZ would be amazing but does nothing.

It is a new golden age for the American OEMs when the Mustang can please muscle car fans with the GT and the Import fans with the Ecoboost starting at $25k and $32k respectively. With Chevy following Fords lead it can only get better.

I do wonder if we will see a turbo 4 Challenger anytime soon?

I would really love to see the Neon SRT-4 make a comeback. I really loved the SRT 4 and I was of driving age in its heyday. That thing did 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. That's faster than a Focus ST and as fast as an EcoBoost Mustang. And the exhaust was one of the best 4 cylinder exhausts I have ever heard.

I also wanna see the EVO make a comeback. That was an awesome car that was well balanced. I loved the STi vs EVO war that was going on for a few years.

It won't work, car's too heavy. A turbo 4 won't have enough low end torque to get it moving. It would be like putting my Evo's engine into a Dodge Charger. Works well in the Evo since it weighs 3200 lbs. As opposed to the Charger's weight of ,what, 4200-4500 lbs.?

Huh? Turbo cars usually make as much torque as Horsepower. Sometimes more. Take the F150 and the ecoboost for instance. Big heavy pick up truck. But the turbo V6 is the top rung motor for towing because of the torque. The current V6 in the challenger/charger makes do with 305hp and 268 tq. Most turbo 4 bangers make more torque than that.

I would love to see a turbo 4 cylinder Cuda that has been rumored. I would love a smaller RWD turbo platform to hit the market, regardless of brand. The new Infiniti with the TTV6 might be the next powerhouse of turbo cars, who knows. We have seen a shift in the automotive community and the domestic manufacturers are focusing on performance and quality while the imports are focusing on hybrid and fuel economy technology.

Too bad it's going to be built on the Alfa Romeo Giulia platform - nothing on the planet less reliable than an Alpha & now you'll have an Alpha being serviced by Dodge Dealers :headbonk:  - PASS !!
