a 4 cyl in a cuda.... lord baby jesus why?
Many people shared this reaction to the Ecoboost, I can go back and see all the posts saying the eco was fords biggest mistake and that no one would buy one. Now the guys on Camaro 6 are pinning their hopes of remotely coming close to Mustang sales numbers on the turbo 4 which pe0ple on both forums were calling an abomination.

If Fiat Chrysler were to make a Turbo 4 'Cuda that
1. Was attractively retro-styled.
2. Didn't weigh several tons.
3. Bits wouldn't start falling off of in a year or two.
4. Wouldn't immolate itself at full boost.

I predict that like the Ecoboost and, hopefully for GM, the Camaro LT, it would sell like hotcakes.

Unfortunately, Chrysler can do #1 and # 4 well and Fiat can do #1 and #2
Neither can do #3 Edit: other than than Chally which upon further research is probably the most reliable car Dodge ever built, because it's mostly a Mercedes.

As someone who owned 2 challengers before my mustang, I can say that I felt the build quality was better in the challengers. No rattles or "bits falling off" at all.

I agree with you on the Challenger, Even early ones seem to be holding up well.
Just about every other car that ever came out of dodge is terrible, I met a Guy with a Viper at a car show and he told me the only good thing about the engine being so coarse and loud was that you only barely noticed the creaks and rattles of the interior falling apart.

Yeah, there was that Japanese peak with the Supra TT, RX7, 300ZX TT, 3000 GT VR4 and the fantastic NSX.

There's such a deficit now of mid-upper range Japanese performance cars. On the lower end we've still got the Miata, some companies have high[er] end offerings like the GT-R and the $150K+ new generation NSX. About the only car left in the mid-ish range is the 370Z, and it's still a touch anemic.

We need a 300-330HP, lightweight successor to the S2000, some sub-$50K products with ~400HP. Some sportier versions of Lexus products, a new Supra, some Japanese cars that mix it up with the 3/4 series M sports, the S4 and TT.

Absolutely!
Don't forget the R32-34 Skylines (Japan Only but I imported 3 of them to Germany) and S13-15 cars. The Supra was and still is amazing 23 years after it's release (I still own one!) but was too expensive when it was released which is why it only became popular after they stopped making them and depreciation brought them into our reach.

:amen: Couldn't agree more which is why I own an Ecoboost today.
With just $2500 in mods I whoop up on any Audi without an RS badge and can hang with an M4.
I would have bought this Identical car for even more money if it was an S16 just so I wouldn't have to put up with the 'Durr, not a real Mustang without a V8 durr' crowd.

I wish there were more good options for the small motor, turbo loving crowd. The EB is the best option on the market right now. It really can do a little bit of everything.

I always wanted a WRX, so I finally went out and bought myself one a couple years ago. 2014 Hatch, Silver. Base, no trim. Had a blast in it, I really did, but the econo interior kind of wore on me after a while, and the uncomfortable ride, and while I loved the flickability, it wasn't all that different from the cars I've been driving all my life.

Best part is, they hold their value well, so I traded it in after 18 mos for $1k less than I paid for it, and got my GT. I tell everyone, the WRX was the perfect car for me...10 years ago.

On a side note, I would love to see some of the high hp rwd imports come back, but I just don't think the market would support it. Still a niche segment.

Ford has been selling near or over 10k mustangs a month for the last year, Most of those have been Ecoboosts. That was a fairly large niche.

Huh? Turbo cars usually make as much torque as Horsepower. Sometimes more. Take the F150 and the ecoboost for instance. Big heavy pick up truck. But the turbo V6 is the top rung motor for towing because of the torque. The current V6 in the challenger/charger makes do with 305hp and 268 tq. Most turbo 4 bangers make more torque than that.
I am referring more to turbo 4's. Turbo 6's I can see with plenty of lowend push since in essence a V6 has more torque than 4. While it's true turbo 4's make more tq than hp it's when it hits or the smoothness of that torque. The current V6 in the charger and challenger is ok but not enough to keep with say a lighter turbo 4. A turbo 4 would have to make a lot of torque to get a heavy Challenger or Charger off the line quickly. You have to rev that engine pretty high. Automatic would be extremely sluggish, because coming from a dead stop the engine isn't in boost, so you'd essentially have say a 2L engine trying to get a 4500lb car moving.

An example: I have driven an automatic WRX in summer with the AC on. WRX weighs about 3100-3200 lbs. I have floored it off a light. It feels exactly like a 2L engine (low compression since it's turbo), until the boost kicks in. So you can imagine that same situation in a car that's 1000lbs. heavier.

It sounds like the WRX needs a steeper first gear in their autos.

It seems like a lot of the fast model imports are super expensive... I got my 335i one year old with 10k miles for 32k (59.5k sticker) and with bolt ons and a tune it was running everything I pulled up against. I just can't see spending that kind of money for a toyota, honda, etc etc

There is a guy in my neighborhood with a Supra (2jz no shit). Every time I see him I want to blurt out "more than you can afford, pal."

The car is kind of cool I guess, but meh. Never saw the appeal.

There is so much hate in the car world right now. If you like one thing, then you almost guarantee that there is a large segment of the car world that will give you shit for it. Pretty sad actually.

Except if you own a Willy's MB or Ford GP. Literally no one hates those.
