This was brought to my attention listening to Matt Farah's The Smoking Tire podcast today and it's ruined the heritage edition for me.

First, I totally understand the point of the GT350 Heritage Edition. I honestly wish this is what they had built with the limited run of 50th anniversary 2015 cars, but alas we're not celebrating the 55th anniversary I suppose. I love the Wimbeldon White paint with the Guards Blue stripes and the heritage feel of that color combination.

However, I not can't unsee the following. In Ford's infinite wisdom they chose to not only exactly copy the color of the original GT350 package, but also elected to retain the font used on the decals from 1965. This might be forgivable, but the original 1965 GT350's didn't also have a fender badge 12" away saying the exact same thing in a separate font.

This is why I've never liked the aftermarket lower stripes I see people put on their cars as the duplicate badging in separate fonts looks terrible, it just hadn't dawned on me until today that Ford did this straight from the factory. They should have either replaced the fender badge with the GT500 snake emblem or updated and modernized the stripe font to match the existing badge font.

I have a 19 stripe delete car. I have designed a rocker panel stripe with the GT 350 on the rear section because of this reason.

Honestly it doesn't bother me. The 2020 HEP doesn't look like the 65 GT 350.

Yeah, I think everyone can have their own opinion on it. I think that Ford's designers could spend more time choosing the right font here, even they could make something better like: "Heritage Edition" at the end of the stripe, but this is Ford. All you can do is love them or hate them.

Mustangs have always been about doing what you want to them......BUT - the more I think about it...even though I don't really care for the layout in general...It seems like all this ruckus over "fixing" something that comes a certain way on a "Heritage" edition car is really not needed. So many people who are excited about a special edition Mustang...enough to pay extra for it and now changing the badging around. meeehhhh.

Funny story:

When I was ready to place my GT350R order, it was too late, not allocations available. I called more than 20 dealerships in the US. Only one, here in Miami, allowed me to place the order, thank God, and those dealer guys. I chose my GT350 in Kona blue and white stripes, She is so sexy. A few days later, after They placed it, they called me: "Hey, Ford is telling us to change one allocation we have with a Heritage R for your order, just to speed up to production, if you don't mind". Obviously, I said YES. So, their Heritage R was replaced for my Kona Blue... So, there is one more Kona in the US and one Heritage R less because of my order.

If you forced me to choose I would say #1 but I'm not into the heritage or heritage edition label. I do like the revised lettering though. Just go bigger on the G. T. 350 like the real 66.

I have always loved the side GT-350 stripes since they first appeared in '65. I still think they are the best stripes EVER put on a Mustang. Honestly, the stripes package was the deciding factor on purchasing the Heritage Edition.
