Some moron coming out of a side street decided that I didn’t exist. :punch: I made a wild swerve to avoid getting clobbered and the Mustang didn’t even break a sweat doing the maneuver. :like:

Pretty much exactly why I wanted the pp1 at a minimum. Upgraded brakes might be nice for the track, but they can also be the difference between a near miss and a collision on the street.

Performance pack? No, this is the idiot driver avoidance pack. :D

I think it's hard for some folks to understand, that a better performing car is better at avoiding accidents. Of making emergency maneuvers better and for stopping quicker.

Good for you OP!!

There's no way any street a encounter could ever come close to exposing the difference between the GT500 14" brakes standard on the GT and the pp brembos.
It's about sustaining fade and you'll never see that on the street. I bet a base GT would have had the same result.
Lots of PP talk, but I have never seen anyone ever complain about the base GT brakes. Nice reaction time!

Not a complaint at all. Just stating a fact as the discussion mentioned upgraded pp brakes and their possible (or not) advantage they have in instances such as the one you unfortunately found yourself in. I don't think they offer any advantage on the street vs the stock GT brakes, though the wheel cleaner company likes the brembos much better. I apologize if my comment offends anyone.

It's not about the brakes in one emergency stop, true. But it IS about the tires, and body control.

I know PP brakes are nice 6 piston Brembos, but the 4 piston OEM brakes on my base model haul this car down FAST. A lot faster than any other car I've ever owned. And that's with the cheesy 235 stock Pirelli's. When I go to a set of 265 or 285's squared, and lower it an inch, I can help but wonder how much better it will corner, and start/stop with better traction. I don't race my car, and I had to do a few avoidance maneuvers already. This car swerves incredibly well, albeit a slight bit more body roll than a PP model. Still better than anything I've ever owned.

Without millions spend on comparison studies and the driver’s skill level, we are left with the OPs impression that the PP and MR made the difference. Not the time to debate brakes, nor anything else. Never question good luck, just bask in the moment.

Guys, this is easy.

Can a non-PP car trigger ABS on any single max effort stop? Yes. Therefore, the brakes of a non-PP car are just as capable as PP in any single street speed stop.

However, the tires and suspension of a non-PP are demonstrably not as capable. Less capable = less able to handle the dynamics of an emergency situation.

Regardless of a few % of capability difference, the driver is far and away the largest variable. So, OP...nice job!

So a post about collision avoidance with props given to the PP1 + Magneride turns into a who's got the bigger wang contest because another person mentions PP1 brakes.

We can't just congratulate the guy on not getting t-boned due to his swerving maneuver and he credited his Mustang w/PP1 + MR?
