I just ordered a PBD 93 & Flex tunes (and uCal) for my (basically)stock 2020 Mustang GT. I probably won’t run E that often because I can’t find it that close to me

On 93 octane, will the car run just as good on either tune? If so, should I just keep it on the flex tune?

I ordered the E85 tester but is there any reason to test it when running a flex tune?

Lastly, I always heard that if you’re going to run E, you should run long tube headers with angled bungs. Would it hurt the car to run it on the stock exhaust?

Thanks!
Mike

1. I'd leave it on the flex tune.

2. The only benefit to testing would be to confirm the tune adjusted afr correctly. Personally I would but not mandatory.

3. I ran my e85/ flex tunes for 42,000 miles on a fully stock exhaust with no issues.

If a station near you consistently tests above 70%, you can go with the E85 tune. It's more aggressive down low.

The closest station is 45 minutes away. I’ve never tested it but I’ve heard it’s hit or miss.

If I am going to be running 93 exclusively, I run the 93 tune. If I am going to be running pump E85, i run flex because my pump varies. My nearest station is an hour away but Ive been only running E for the past 8 months. All you have to do is buy some 55 gal drums and fill them up, your nearest station moves from an hour away to your back yard. Its worth it. And always test so that you know your flex tune is learning correctly

I’m guessing you have to get some sort of a pump setup?

This is probably a stupid question, assuming you bring the 55 gal drum in the bed of a truck to fill... how in the hell do you get it out? I’d imagine it would take several people to lift or move.

Not sure of where in Louisiana you're in, but I have several Exxon stations nearby, according to an online search, that sells E85. However, I appreciate your thread, as I've been considering a tune to run E85 and a cold air intake system, if for nothing else, do it just to run at the local drag strips this summer.

I ran one of those online searches for E85 in my area and it was wrong. Nothing within 100 miles of me. I actually planned a build around E85 thinking I had a few stations near by.

I have the means. Front end loader. You can unload by setting a tire on the ground and sliding it off the tailgate onto the tire (cushion). There are many ways to skin the cat
