that something would happen to my Lincoln before I sold it.

We talked last night about needing to get it on the market within the next couple of weeks, to get it gone before the car comes in mid November (it says here!)

So this morning, my wife left to run an errand, and then I heard her running back toward the house. I just knew. Sure enough, after doing it successfully hundreds of times, she'd backed up too far and crumpled the driver front fender of the Lincoln right above the tire.

At least the Escape . . . escaped.

Sigh.

What are you gonna do but laugh?:headbonk:

Man Lincoln just gets no respect these days :tsk:. Murphy's Law. sucks to hear.

But this way you have more incentive not to let her drive the Mustang

Dude, that sucks! Are you going to get it fixed or trade it in as is and take the hit? The reason i ask: My trade in has a couple of issues as well and I'm wondering if they're worth fixing.

I am going to have it fixed. I might let a ding go. This is more like a big dent, and the fender is brushing the edge of the door. I think it would be hard to sell.

Well, the Lincoln is back from the shop. Looks about 90-95%. It took two tries, since the first time they blended the paint onto the drivers' door and that looked fine, but they did a hard mask at the edge of the hood. The new paint is a couple of shades less amber (it's a pewter-silver car) than the original paint and it screamed "Look, I'm a new fender!"

I complained about it, loudly. The insurance company (GEICO) wouldn't pay to blend the hood, since it didn't "need" to be painted. The body shop, to their credit, agreed it looked like hell and should be blended, so they stepped up and did it on their nickel. I was impressed.

A day later I picked it up, and can't even see the color change on the hood. I can just barely see it on the door, and I don't think one person in 10 would notice, it's very subtle.

Just in time to put it on the market; my car builds tomorrow!
