Along with my 16 Ecoboost, I've had a 99GT project for nearly a year. In that time span, it's had new bearings put in the motor, trans rebuilt once, Hooker Headers installed, and a few other nick-nacks. As of this moment, the car has had less that 1000 miles put on it since I took ownership... Doesn't even have reg and a plate for NC yet. On it's maiden voyage, the trans puked it's guts out of the tailshaft seal and ended up taking out every gear, every synchro, and every shaft in it. Trans has sat at the trans shop for nearly a month now and they just now took it a part...

I honestly feel defeated on this. I'm so tired of set-backs, I'm probably just going to slap a junkyard trans in it and sell it. Has anyone else felt like this? I'm just done with it...

Yeah, it's just a sour part of the Project Car life....

I had an A Code 65 Coupe for a while, fun car, but like most cars..had the cancer. Repaired the quarter panels and rear wheel houses..only to find out the door shells were basically rotted out on the bottom and needed replacing, as well as the kickdown lever on the transmission had been welded in place by the previous owner.

So...that's why I say I had it, rather than have it.

I'm potentially picking up a donor trans on Monday, so hopefully I can get it on the road soon. Idk... I'm just done. It's like, every little detail I go over on it now just aggravates me even more. That, and I took my EBM on it's first cruise/drive the other day with my buddies in their SN cobras. Trying to put away as much money as I can on top of selling the GT to buy my buddies Mystic.

You should work on a car that the aftermarket produces very few parts for like my 64 Fairlane or a 55 Thunderbird that has the worst suspension design EVER.

I hear ya..

My 98' GT was a pain in my ass. Awesome car, PI'd cammed, LT's, tune ect ect.. bout every bolt-on short of a SC. Car made 300/300 at the wheels.

But there was ALWAYS something going on with it. Drive shaft issues. suspension, then trans. The car sat in my garage for over three years. I'd start it, back it out, wash it, then pull it back in the garage.

Last fall one of my buddies made money talk and I sold it to him. I honestly don't miss that car one little bit. The 2015 helps though. :)

My mach1 was relatively painless, slapped a cobra Eaton at 80k miles (bought it with 35k) and daily drove it and raced it for 12k miles with no issues besides a radiator cap giving out. That was a stock bottom end, stock 3650 on a stock clutch. I sold it to get an suv then bought a fox. Had it for 4 years, it was in a shop for its last year with me for a transmission, it seemed like it always need it a couple more things to be how I wanted it. Got to the point where I didn't love the car scene any more, almost depressed. Wife said I needed to once again find the joy in cars so I sold my daily (Altima SER) and bought my auto 2015 then proceeded to part out the entire fox through forums and craigslist in about 2 months time rather than pay to put it back together. Best decision of my life. I hope you see my suggestion here.

I've kind of figured out a plan to save up what I can, hopefully about 2-3 grand by christmas time, and around then put the GT up for sale. My buddy has a mystic cobra that I'm wanting to buy. Everything I'd want to do to it, minus a bigger blower, is done.

I just don't enjoy the car scene like I used to.
