How to adjust how far the windows go up?

Long story short, my driver door was misaligned from the factory. Local dealer took care of it, it is now really nice and even. The problem is with the glass. Because of the door being misaligned initially the glass on the driver does not go far enough in the rubber gasket when door is closed. Compared to the passenger side is about 1/4" lower. I would like to adjust this without going to the dealer again. I know on some cars there is a way to re-index for a lack of better word how far the glass moves up before it stops on frameless doors. How can I do this on a GT350?

The glass should drop about an 1/8th of an inch when opening the door. Then when you shut the door it should go up an additional 1/8th of an inch. That's so it won't catch as you open. With the door closed hold the switch down even after the window hits bottom for roughly 10 seconds. Then, hold the switch up even after it reaches the top for about ten seconds. This is the way to adjust the stopping points. If that doesn't work, it needs to be looked at. Let me know if that works.

Thanks for the tips. I think I understand what is going on.

I tried first the procedure you described and nothing improved. Then I started looking a bit at the way the glass looks relative to the body and door, driver and passenger side.

The pictures included show the windows before the final 1/8" step up. You will see that the driver door glass is actually misaligned relative to the door and upper rubber seal. It definitely looks like the rear of the glass is lower than it should (especially when compared to the passenger side which looks good).

Is there a way to lift the rear of the glass only? Basically is there a way to mess with the window tracks/rails inside the door?

compared to my door yours still look miss aligned the trim on mine is even,yours looks lower than the fender.maybe its not the glass?just my 2 cents.

As much as I hate taking the door panels off of these, I think that is necessary. If it's under warranty have someone that is good at this do it(someone that cares). Looks from your photos to be out of alignment.

+1. Both your doors look a bit low.

+1... doors need to be lifted straight vertically by about shy of 1/4".

Doors are fine actually. They are just not closed completely so I can show you the gap at the top of the glass (before it raises by about 1/8"). Basically it is an optical illusion since they are not flush with the body. I can take some pics with them completely closed and you can see. The pint I was trying to make is the difference between driver and passenger. I would like my driver side look the same as the passenger.

The shop manual details adjusting the glass height. Basically there are too clamps at the bottom that hold the glass. Loosen them move glass and tighten. Manual gives lot of instructions on putting tape on the window and them measuring to get them in the right place. Go to the rent a manual place and down load the instructions. The bezel over the window buttons is easily broken, start at the rear and use a trim tool and pry from inside the hand grip, spray a little silicone in there using a nozzle extension. Again from inside the hand grip on the front side insert trim tool pry up, then move to the front and on the curved section about 2 to 3 o'clock position insert trim tool and pry up. If you break off the center clip get the two part epoxy for plastic and glue it back on. Ford wants a lot of money for those Bezels.

I would add to CKING's advice by recommending if you plan on doing this or any interior trim work to invest in a trim tool kit (Cornwell,Snap-On, Matco etc.). So worth the expense in the long run. And the most important thing other than knowing trim pieces can slice the daylights out of you, is patience.

I agree about a trim tool kit. They are a life saver - I use mine all the time and not just for trim. Anything that you do not want to mar is a good candidate
