I have a 2015 Ecoboost Premium PP Auto. The car has 14,000 miles and is stock. To trade used for used to a 2015 Premium auto GT would run about $10,000.00 more. I could almost have GT performance with a street 93 oct tune for 500 to 600 bucks. Wondering how safe the tunes would be. I am 68 years old and don't abuse my car or drag race (been there done that). I just want a very responsive car for the street. Thanks a lot for your help! I had a 1984 Monte Carlo SS that I swapped a complete 1987 GN v6 turbo and ran it quite a few times at the strip. best of 11.01@122. Finally blew a head gasket!

I just spanked a 2012 5.0 yesterday in some stoplight play. This car is perfect for it with all the torque down low. Imo 93 tuning is very safe, just be sure to go with a good tuner and not the cheapest alternative

Depends on the tune, but none are bulletproof. If you aren't prepared to replace an engine don't do it.

It's plenty safe. If you're looking to wake up the car, there are options with tuner and device so get what suits you. A tune is the best mod for this car. Just know once you tune, you will want more.....tune alone isn't enough.

ftfy

if you pop the block then Id bet you'd have to fit the bill. if the turbo popped, something messed up with the fuel system, you'd then fall into 'maybe' territory.

my biggest suggestion would be this - dont put on any visible performance mods you wouldnt take off before taking it in for service. only certain circumstances (I believe) would have the dealer checking the ECU for tune - but I dont work for a dealer, so no way to be certain of the point that they check for tune or not.

however best suggestion is, have a few grand in savings first. another year from now there may be a better understanding of how delicate these motors are.

Exactly this. Thought I'd stop with a tune and intake. I'm now about to install said intake, and an intercooler, and putting together a custom exhaust with upgraded downpipe.

Then I'm done I swear.

No your not lol. I said those same things and still plan on modding my car continuously. I need to be able to atleast beat a GT in a roll race lol.

Thanks guys, I do have the money to fix it. How much difference in drivability does Adams tune make? I am really looking for a lot more torque and shove you in the seat feeling! I had a 2012 GT auto premium and if you punched it at 40 MPH it pulled like a freight train! Just driving it around it was not too responsive, however.

Car drives great when just running around. And the SOTP feel is awesome when you floor it. Adam improves everything, throttle response, boost delievery...all the good stuff. Keep in mind you won't beat any GT's from a 40 roll atleast not for long thanks to our Stock turbo but the car pulls really good..trust me you will be impressed. It's a huge improvement over the slow feeling you get from driving the car stock...which I have to say again is just terribly slow lol

That's the thing. From a roll you really need to upgrade the stock turbo to be competitive. But from a stop we get a good jump on them. I love that feeling when boost hits in 3rd/4th gear

I have over 300 cars running on a 91 or 93 tune, no issues at all.

Funny, I spanked a PP 5.0 2 of 3 times from a 3rd gear highwat roll. He forsure had a catback on it, but not sure about anything else. He probally needed a driver mod :D

How about vs a Scat Pack @ the dragstrip?
