I know these are fairly sturdy items but I have read the replacement schedule for ignition coil packs is 100k miles. Is that true, or what would be recommended? Thanks all...

I don't know how often they should be replaced, but don't use after-market ones they don't last long. Get the Ford ones they work best.

I know a few in the Euro Performance biz that wouldn’t bat an eye at changing all the coil packs at your 71K miles. They wouldn’t waste their time just doing plugs alone.

Yes, I think I will go ahead. The problem seems to be that the engine will not throw codes necessarily but then not be as efficient as it was. Also, I did have a small problem with idle and power loss in the 3500-5000 range relatively that was partially improved with new plugs.
The packs? Is the 12029 - M52 the best ones?

I replaced mine at 71k miles (a little early) because they had black spark burn through holes and it was bugging me. Buuut.. the new ones really didn't change how it drove. Probably a waste of money.

But OTOH I'm a fan of preventative maintenance as opposed to being left stranded at an awkward time, or loosing out on a weekend of car fun due to sudden 'unscheduled' maintenance.
