I hope the shifter knob is not as close as it appears to hitting the controls, in this picture. I palm the knob from the top and it almost looks like I would hit my knuckle's into the Heat/AC buttons...Anyone have a picture of the manual in 1st gear?

Here's a better perspective. It's not in 1st gear, but it shows a better angle.

MT-82 was rated by Ford to handle 380 lb ft torque at introduction in 2010 on the '11 MY Mustang. Ironic, considering the 5.0L was rated by at 390 lb ft torque.
390 ft lbs @ 10,000 lb vehicle weight. Getrag designed the unit as a truck trans to start with and it was originally rated @ 390 ft lbs tq/10K lb vehicle weight. Being in a car that weighs 3XXX lbs is going to equate into a much high ft lb of tq that you can safely run through it.

That truck weight thing is all urban legend BS. And don't forget the transmission had a terrible failure rate in the trucks too. Trucks weight more... but they aren't shifted or used like Mustangs would be used.
People cannot keep sticking up for something just because they're fanboys of the car. Wanting to believe doesn't make it true.
This has been argued for years of other forums.. it isn't worth it here, when the point is to find out for absolute sure what has been done for 2015. Some money has finally been spent on the troubled transmission... we need to know exactly on what and how it was tested.

It's CYA for them, as they certainly had to shell out a heckuva lot of money for warranty costs.

Not sure how a transmission made and rated for trucks before Ford used it in their products is a CYA move. Sounds like you have made up your mind and your not willing to budge. Kinda like the polar opposite of a fan boy, having a mustang doesn't excuse that. All I know if the Getrag is way better than my last purchased factory mustang trans which was a T45. I now have a TKO in it but as long as Ford makes the correct adjustments or until we have confirmation that those adjustments haven't been made I'm not going to judge the updated gear box, minor updates as it may be.

I found a real interesting read from a couple months ago. Talks about use of aluminum, length of time the coyote is expected to last. Just a bunch of cool info.

Btw it's much easier to read if ya click the link but thought i'd copy/paste for those that don't like to click links lol

Hard to take seriously an article that is constantly comparing to the Mustang to the Camaro and then tries to highlight the Mustang's weight as its major problem.

Yes, and when the T45 was introduced for 1996, synchros failed quickly for the first 2 or so years. A factory engineering and testing failure. The other problem in 1996 was cooling, where a new cooling system (radiator, radiator mounts, hoses and thermostat) had to be replaced in a massive recall. GTs and Cobras for both problems.

My T45 HATED the 2/3 shifts. Got a Steeda Tri-ax and it resolved much of the problem but now and then I still missed that 3rd gear with a horrendous grind. The problem that ticked me off most with my 98 was the DOHC's IMRC plates clogging up and making the car run like a 2V, oh and me ripping a UCA nearly in half at the track on regular radials. It just gave me an excuse to tell the wife that I needed to purchase upgraded UCA and LCA's;)
