Black was an easy choice for me. It does show all of the dirt within 3 miles of the car, but keeping it clean is part of the love of the car.

I test drove a BLACK EcoBoost Mustang and was smitten. What's funny is, I didn't think I'd care for the black, but I couldn't take my eyes off of it afterwards. The salesman was speaking to me, but I couldn't look away. LOL

I've labored long and hard over choosing a color for my sixth Mustang. I even made a list of pros and cons for each color. It's THAT important to me. I want to be happy to see it in my driveway every day. Regardless of the weather or lighting conditions...

So, without further adieu, here are my gut reactions to each color:

Guard:
Pros – Unusual, below radar, stealthy, understated, bold, confident
Cons – Invisible, not green enough, easily mistaken for gray, too dark to reveal body lines in most lighting conditions, over time, in danger of resembling an old Aerostar or Taurus, darker shade reveals body imperfections and dings as well as chips and scrapes

Mind you, this list is just how I PERSONALLY feel about each of these colors. And it is admittedly, a work in progress. But as you can see, Magnetic is currently my favorite, based on my Pro/Con ratio…

All things being equal, I had to make an argument to consider ALL of these colors individually. The car is beautiful, regardless of color choice!
Guard = Because gut reaction I liked it best = After seeing car in person it was the right decision!

Make a top 2 and see them in person next to each other. If the dealer has them.

Black is the color that strikes my emotion and imagination the most. All of the other colors are pretty and appeal to me in one way or another, but they just don't speak to me the way black does.

I was sure (at first) that I wanted Deep Impact Blue. Then I saw one in Guard and was ready to buy it, but before I could get to the dealership, it was sold. They had one in Ruby Red configured exactly the way I wanted it. Even at night, under the dealership lights, one look at the color and I knew it was the one for me.

I gave my opinion on this earlier in the thread, but since you are into color/color theory/reproducing color, I'll remind you of the most important factor.

Light

Out in the desert we have a lot of direct sunlight which really makes some of these colors POP and SPARKLE. On those rare days where it is overcast, those same colors vary in temperature and can lose their dazzle. They still look good, mind you, just in a different way. So anyway... Think about your lighting conditions where you live. If you're in an area that doesn't get much sun, but you love what a color looks like on a sunny day, you may only love the car a fraction of the time. So view the colors on a sunny day and cloudy day. If a cloudy day is hard to find, go check them out at the golden hour (shortly after sunset).

In the end I think they all look amazing. And they each take on different personalities... some more than others.

I have it on good authority that they ran out of that color and it was quite ugly anyway.

OP, no matter what you get it will inspire something in the range of love to hate depending on who's opinion you are suffering.

From psychology 101, usually the hardest decisions are the ones that are the least likely to make any difference.
I saw this and I was pissed, but I looked at your profile and see it's sarcasm! I had to delete the post calling you a jerk:headbonk:

I'm not an engineer, but I did serve as an engineer's aide at Grumman Aerospace for six years… LOL

I haven't seen Ruby Red in person… yet. But there is a chance I will cross paths with YOU here in Washington, some day. I've been on the lookout for ANY color Mustang on the roads. So far, I haven't seen even ONE! I've only seen a Black, a Guard and a Magnetic in person.

This is why I say this is a work in progress. I won't be making any purchasing decisions until I've seen the entire range of colors first hand! I'm pretty certain I'll be getting an EcoBoost with a 50 Year Appearance Package and a Performance Package, however.

As I believe you suggested, they're beautiful cars, whatever the color. But I guess I'm little biased b/c I got another compliment yesterday from someone who happened to park by me. Guy looked at the car as I was getting in and said "Man, I love that color."

As we all know, it is a hard decision. Best of luck to you.
