Looking at buying the JLT Oil Separator, but not sure how essential it is. Is an oil separator needed and/or how important is it?

For a stock NA motor you probably will collect very little oil...for peace of mine you could install one, but don’t expect a lot of benefit. Should be a standard part on a boosted motor, that’s when you will collect a few drops (1-2 oz) of oil every 500-1500 miles or so.

After 1,000 miles, my oil separator is a quarter full. The liquid is pitch black, definitely a combo of gasoline, oil, other acids/water vapor.

I highly recommend one. It is a small investment.
My coyote is stock AT

Do a bit of a search on here, most folks seems to experience what Faceme has ie they collect quite a bit of oil from theirs particularly on the driver side.

^ Careful with this. Passenger side for the majority of us (LHD drive guys). RHD cars driver's side

I was honestly pretty shocked at how much I was collecting on mine. E85, exhaust car.

Cheap peace of mind I guess.

I definitely collect more when I am using corn fuel than normal 93 octane.

Most or all of the aftermarket CC's are described as PnP, which seems clear since they come with hoses that have OE-like quick-connect fittings. It appears that one or both of those hose(s) must be connected in place of the factory vacuum hose that clips on behind the TB. Is this correct? I ask this because:

I'd like to install a CC, but I have a 3-port TurboSmart vacuum tower installed at that location, and therefore the factory quick-connect nipple is not available.

Surely there are others who have this 3-port vac tower AND a catch can. How did you hook it up?

It's not needed on stock tune but nice to have.
As you get tunes for higher octane, oil vapor can reduce octane causing pinging.

Well you need a vacuum, that's how it works. So anywhere after the throttle body will do.

^ ^ Yes - I get that.

My question is not whether I need a vacuum source. My question is to where do my fellow members connect the CC hose if there is a TS vacuum tower already sitting atop the factory vac nipple behind the TB?
