and I got a saleswoman to walk away from me at Dodge. She was trying to sell me the Hellcat while I said I was just looking at Challengers...I kindly informed her that the Hellcat is certainly not a "god-car" (like she was making it sound) and how when it actually comes out people will probably see that it's actually a kind of POS for the price/amount of power it has. She was angry, that one was probably my fault.
:lol: Right there she should have brow beat you and sold you a car. I had a service customer walk on the lot and tell me we were a bunch of F-ing A-Holes. Me: "Excuse me sir, your a F-ing A-hole, I didn't do anything to you" He left with a low mile Taurus an hour later and I made $100 while opening my sales negotiations with profanities. Go find that in a salesmanship manual.

Replies in this thread are the main reason I don't want a car that was been test driven and had the shit beat out of it. They need test drive specific cars, when I start my hunt to find one I'll definitely not be buying one with miles on it.
Really, how many people do you think touch your car before you drive it off the lot, none of them care. It's just a mechanical device, whether it has 1 mile or 100 someone violated it. That's what your comment is all about right? You want a virgin? I'll take the broken in one and have more fun, it's already been experienced...as Jimi would say :)

What does that have to do with anything?

They're comfortable as fuck; way more than jeans.
 I purposely wear jeans and a nice shirt. For fun now that this subject has been brought up I should show up wearing my drivers suit carrying my helmet and walk in to a showroom and ask to test drive a car ;)

Let me know when you are going to buy a new toilet. I'll give it a test drive if you catch my meaning. ;)

There's a big difference in the car going through PDI and driven off the truck vs someone taking it for a test drive, doing donuts, driving it like a complete idiot, beating on it and etc. If I'm buying a new car I want a new car, not a guinea pig that was used to beat on.

Been working with a salesman since Feb. Taken out an escape, a focus ST, and a '14 GT. He's commented a couple times that my test drives are more fun than his average. All have been short but spirited. Be nice if they more than 15 miles worth of gas in them when we leave.
I'll take out a' 15 GT and EB before I make any decisions.

That's what happened when I was looking at 14 GTs back in April. The guy handed me the keys and said see ya in 20!

Which was nice and all but there was only 10 miles left in the car >.<.

Would have been a nice car to have , and 6k off sticker , but I just didn't like the way a bae model '14 looked..im strange hah.

I've been finding it hard to truly test drive a performance car and I'm wondering if any of you have tips on how best to do it. Several of the dealerships I've visited provide super limited drives of the high-end cars. I took a C7 test drive that was about the lamest, most limited drive ever. The car totally un-impressed me...then I drove it again at another dealership and I could at least take it on a highway on-ramp as well as a relatively short but spirited drive on some twisty roads and my feeling was quite the opposite.

So how do you test drive a performance car? Any tips to really get a good feel for what it's capable of?

Thanks,

First, it comes down to knowing what you are looking for, then testing for that in cars..

Oddly, your C7 test drive seems lame, because you were expecting the car to do something, instead of You.. When I test drove the e92 almost 10 years ago, I wanted to know it's balance, heft & agility...

I put it sideways coming out of the lot... to see

Take your wife (or girlfriend) if you have one. It's tight in the backseat (of a mustang, of course) and dealers aren't going to want to ride back there. I think that most dealers also believe that you won't beat on it as much with the female along, so IMHO bring the little lady along- it will help. She won't complain too much that you're beating on it because you'll already have had the conversation regarding you're intentions prior to arriving at the dealership.

In My Parents defense BOTH Salesmen Encouraged Them to "Drive" the Cars and Not to be Afraid to Get On It. They Didn't "Beat On Them"
When You're Spending the kind of Money on a Car You want to know how it performs.

For everyone who thinks they want a virgin that nobody 'beat' on, my car was custom ordered and when it arrived at the dealership it had 77miles on the odo and a slip saying it was part of a random QC test. I'd bet most of you would have been pissed and not accepted delivery. Well I did and after 4 years and 30,000 miles it's been to the dealership all of one time versus the people anal about nobody touching the car and following a strict "break-in" procedure who end up in the shop several times a year. The tires and brakes were both brand new so I assume after their testing all wear items were replaced.

I worked with a female sales lady who admitted to having never driven a manual when I told her that was what I was looking for. So she allowed me to grab the car from their storage facility(before I ended up ordering the car I have now) and drive it wherever and however I wanted to. We hit a highway on ramp starting at 55mph and ended somewhere north of that and we both had fun.
