I’m 99% ready to install BW gt350 style black stripes (no pinstripes) on my 18 Magnetic.

My car is a garage queen and no daily driver. I am in Arizona but in the mountains but of course will be all over the hot southwest.

Will I eventually be able to remove them easily while not negatively affecting the paint?

I’ve read that they are the easiest to remove vs the vinyl that most tint shops apply.

Man I want to do this and hope it is easy to remove should I change my mind.

    Thanks.

Keep in mind, depending on how long they are on your car the paint under will not be as faded as the rest of the car. So possible that it will look bad when taken off, but that is dependant on how much it is in the sun vs how long the stripes are on.

Has anyone had the stripes then removed them? Or is it a permanent commitment

We remove them on a regular basis, people change colors or stripe style. Cardude99 is correct, the stripes protect the paint so the part of the car that doesn't have stripes fades over time. Most of the time a good detailer can do paint correction and return everything back to like new. If your in the Scottsdale, AZ area there is a great detailer named Corey - his company his BlackOps Auto Detail (he used to be located in Texas). The stripes are easy to remove, especially in the first couple of years.

Yep, shouldn’t have any problem. I removed my black GT500 stripes and installed GT350 stripes. I had to use 3M adhesive remover but that made it easier.

We'll my install went south. Thought I prepared - but nothing really prepares you than actually doing the work.

Hit some creases - that Bigworm helped out (great support by the way) - used a heat gun - but I've got a bunch of marks in the area.

I'm going to have a pro do this. I'll keep them on to get used to it - to make sure that I really want this. They look ok - but really tough when the stripes start to converge towards the bottom - hard to get out of that. As a rookie - I didn't have the skills to deal with it and as such - I have creases which I repaired but also marks on the vinyl.

Pretty much a "C-" install. I'm shocked that the creases came out though. Tuck around bottom of hood giving me problems - lots of heat gun - but isn't sticking.

I installed in my garage - just pulled out for pictures.

    Thanks.

It looks like you only used a portion of the kit which is good news. The cost won't be to much for replacement from BigWorm.

As long as you don't let them sunbake, they will be easy to remove.

These came off easy with very little residue.

Taking off the dual stripes left residue which was removed by soaking paper towels with 90% alcohol. It then wiped off easily.

This set is on my car now.

One way to align the stripes on the car is to use masking tape. Cut the tape along the edges of the stripe (yellow lines in the pic), leaving one end on the car and the other end on the protective film. Pull off the backing paper and align the tape ends. As @JOKER GT mentioned if you decide to give it a go yourself send me a pm.

Thanks @bjstang very helpful. The stripes are looking much better now. I did treat the hood and the stripes with Blackfire since I wanted my hood protected after the IPA treatment. I also wanted to see how the stripes took to the BlackFire treatment. So this has been a very good learning opportunity.

Surprising how the vinyl can be fixed with just a finger or some heat from a heat gun.

This is how they currently look

Also most of the bubbles in the pictures are now gone.

Can you confirm when you say paint correction returns things to like new you are just talking about smoothness. I can't see how paint correction can do anything about faded paint that is beneath the clear-coat. But I'm guessing there isn't much fading these days since the clear-coats are like SPF-5000 [/RoboCop reference]
