Im still getting used to these gen 3 coyotes. They have to be some of the noisiest engines out there with the 2k rattle, BBQ tick, and overall DI clicking...

Anyway I'm curious if anyone else gets idle noise like I do when the car is hot. No, it's not the BBQ tick. It's more of a low chugging/vague tapping that comes on when the engine is warm especially after getting on the throttle and then sitting at an intersection. It's not exhaust or the DI clicking. You hear it inside the cabin and I can feel it rhythmically in the gear shift, with or without the stick in gear. Weirdly, you can't hear it outside the car and it never happens on start up. Only when hot and sitting at a stop light.

I've checked the oil and its full. As far as I know, it's still on the factory fill. I'm at 5500 miles.

I know what you mean, I think its got something to do with the rotation of the clutch assembly or drivetrain. I definitely hear it on a quiet night mostly. It does not concern me, I suggest you don't drive yourself insane listening to this amazing motor/drivetrain doing its thing. Flip the bad boy to track mode and you will forget about it lol

BTW I now have almost 20K miles, had it from the beginning. No issues and changes in sound or frequency. Its just a noise it makes when you are actively listening to it on a quiet night or with windows up.

My 2014 GT made noises too on the drive train (6 speed) and it ran to a healthy 130K miles before I sold it.

Thanks. Yeah I do notice it kinda comes and goes depending on the drive. I figure it's something to do with the manual gear box. Maybe clutch rotation like you said.

I’ve never had a quiet American car. I wouldn’t worry about it. My charger is the clunkiest (noise wise), most harmonic-vibration prone vehicle ever and just turned 150k with no issues. I floor that car every day and it slogs around on the worst of Detroit’s roads.

I like the old adage about WW2 pistols. The German Luger was ultra smooth, tight tolerance, no noise when shaken, every part meticulously hand crafted to fit together.

the American 1911 sounded like a bucket of screws when shaken, was sloppy and loose, and built and repaired out of a parts bin.

which one survived through the mud of WW2 with little to no service? The 1911. I think the same principle applies to American vs German cars - American cars are noisy but tough.

Honestly, this car is FULL of mechanical noises. That’s one the endearing qualities of the Mach 1 and GT350. Just like the original Mach 1. A Supra would be better if you were looking for something more tight and quiet. Even a Mustang GT is MUCH quieter than the Mach 1.

comes with the territory. you don't complain about the escapement assembly click on a mechanical watch, you enjoy it, it's part of the reason you got it in the first place.
Also, as others have said, track mode + gas solves the problem 🏎

Well I don't think track mode and gas is going to solve idle noise lol, but thanks. 😉

Thats Interesting. I've never heard that before. Why would that be? Only the intake is different from a GT engine wise.

Sounds like you’re more of a 50th Anniversary Edition/California Special type.

Dude, what's with the snide remarks? I just asked why a M1 engine would be noiser than any other 3rd gen coyote. 🤷‍♂️

It’s a fact. The 50th LE and the California Special have more noise insulation and are more designed for comfort while still being cool.
It’s really odd to buy a performance oriented car and then complain about noise.
Why would anyone think a California Special or a 50th LE is an insult I wonder. The C/S is actually a really nice version.
I’d stay away from Bullitt though too close to Mach 1 and likely to be as noisy or close.
Good job on the edit. Cooler heads prevail.

As for the rest...I plainly stated that I was wondering if anyine else had the noise I was hearing at idle. Pretty simple stuff really. I got my answer. Then you spun this in a completely different direction. Not sure what triggered you, but there's no need to continue this conversation.

I apologize for hurting your feelings. I understand I need to temper my remarks. Truth is, ALL major muscle cars made in history have ALL been noisy.
It’s a fact of muscle cars. But, if you’re a youngster you would not necessarily know that.
For the benefit of those looking back at this thread, please be aware that the more extreme performance versions of just about any car bring with it a plethora of possible mechanical noises. The quality these cars bring is embraced by few and intolerable to many. What’s actually a bit funny is some of the most amazing muscle cars ever built sounded like they were literally falling apart at idle. No comparison to the M1 which is a Cadillac in comparison.

@AZ_Ryan I here what your saying. This is my first muscle car ever. And honestly, thank you to everyone that chimed in. I gained a lot of insight with this post. I've thought plenty of times that it was just my car that made all these weird noises. I don't have the Mach 1. But the GT PP1 is a whiny bitch. At times it's almost as if she's got a SC.
