Is there a way to disable the horn, when I lock the doors. I don't mind having the lights flash, confirming that lock has occurred. I just don't like announcing to my neighbors at 1AM that I have arrived.

The horn only beeps when you press lock twice on the fob. Pressing once it shouldn't alarm. I don't know of any way to turn it off.

Other option is to leave the fob in pocket and just touch the door handle on the small lines one time. That also locks it.

Another way is to hit the lock button on the inside of the door as you exit.

I do this on my 2011 Mustang & wife's 2013 Grand Caravan as i really hate that "honk" when using the fob too !!

I was doing this on the '15 rental I had since there is no longer "lock posts" on the door panels to see that the door is in fact locked. But then I realized that the red LED lights up momentarily (where door lock post would normally be) when the door is locked. So as long as I saw the light come on as I touched the exterior door handle as Droid Junky stated, I knew door was locked without taking the key fob out of my pocket.

This is why I miss my nice, classy, quiet "beep" and "beep, beep" found on my last few cars....

i actually would prefer the honk so i can tell if it's been locked with keyless operation.

but i asked in a different thread and they advised that you can just look at the top of the door panel where there's a red LED. it will turn red when you lock it successfully

I hate the horn honk when locking a car. It's obnoxious and IMO, rude. In my previous car (G35) I was able to turn it off by holding the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for ~10 seconds and it disabled it. Not sure if that is possible in the Mustang.

like i said, im pretty sure the keyless feature is standard on all mustangs.

leave keys in pocket, unlock/lock the doors by using the inside door handle to unlock, top of door handle to lock, and using the push button engine start/stop and trunk release button above the license plate. no honks.

that's right, no honks at all.

That's all fine and dandy, my G35 had the same keyless entry, but for people like myself who are overly paranoid about the car being locked I would use the door handle to lock the car and then proceed to hit the lock button on my key FOB 2, 3, 4+ more times as i was walking away just to be sure. Having the car honk at me every time, especially at very early hours of the morning, is not ideal.

Is it a deal breaker, absolutely not. Do I fault Ford for designing the system that way, No. It's just a personal preference and something I was accustomed to.

As long as you only push the key fob once, the horn shouldn't honk. If you double or triple check it, just make sure you push the button 10 or so seconds apart and the horn shouldn't go off.

i see, i know what you mean. i have a mild case of OCD myself. ive only used the fob once to lock it so far, and it was my first night of ownership when i didn't know about the red LED.

I do the same thing, which is why I need the horn to go off, 2, 3, or 4 times so I'm sure I locked it. I park at night in an industrial area so it's not quiet anyway, even when I get home at 3:00 a.m.
