We need larger hood vents, not turn-signal-thingies clogging them up.

(I believe the hood vents are for relieving pressure buildup more so than for heat extraction. Mainly bc they are located forward on the hood.)

The GT hood vents are for show. Yes, they are functional in the sense that they are an open hole to the engine compartment, but the vents are not technically necessary to keep the engine at the right temperature. They are there because historically GTs have them. It's a design feature. If you track your car you'll need more airflow than those two little vents provide anyways.

The European GT hoods don't have the "heat extractors". Ford's European division would not sell a GT without heat extractors if the GT could not endure sustained "Autobahn" speeds without them. They would not risk damaging the engine.

Additionally, Ford USA reduced the size of the hood extractor opening by sticking a turn signal in there for '16 GTs. Ford wouldn't reduce the vent capacity on the GTs if doing this jeopardized their engine.

PS
The turn signals in in the vents is stupid, heritage design influence or not.

We could take this further and begin to discuss the aerodynamics at high speed. (Not that we know what we are talking about anyway, so why not?)

Cars tend towards oversteer at high speed, bc the air pressure buildup is at the forward half of the car. Venting pressure from under the hood only makes this imbalance worse.

So what we need is:

  1. Bigger hood vents.
  2. Vented fenders behind the front wheels.
  3. A wing on the back to balance out all the extra front downforce.
Wait, they make that ... it's a GT350R! :clap2:
