I was finishing up the initial hand washing a few days ago and I noticed the hood liner was soaked. After all my steps, I typically open the hood and just wipe down the various surfaces. I lift the hood and water starts dripping down close to the outside points on both the passenger and driver side. I know the water is getting in from the extractors but is this common? When I say dripping, it was pretty considerable for at least the first few minutes.

I am trying to avoid water getting trapped up there but I must have let it drip for twenty minutes. If I was not out of town when it happened, I would have removed the liner but I did not want to attempt without my trim remover. I attempted to push the edge of the liner back from the end of the extractor but it did not move far. I appreciate any insight.

I try to aim the hose AWAY from the hood vents as much as possible. It seems to have minimized how much water gets through.

As others have noted, avoiding water streams near the vents will minimize intrusion in the liner. I spray the water with the nozzle pointed from the front of the hood toward the windshield. I use small blasts, not continuous streams.

The first time I ever washed the car is detailed here in my journal thread.

Looks the water stream was my issue. The hose I was using did not have an attachment but I did not feel like I was ever just aiming it towards the vents. I washed it yesterday at home with the fire house attachment and no issue at all. I was planning on trimming back the liner a bit but looks like I will be good. Thanks.

Same issue with me. Maybe taping off the extractor during washing will help? Can't hurt to try. I'll do it next time.

I use painters tape over the vents when I wash. Works like a charm...
