Hood Latch Delete

What's up guys, quick search didn't really turn up much. My intercooler hits my hood latch and there's not really a way to modify the latch. I read on many older cars that hood pins were sufficient with no latch. I've already got the quick latches on my hood but was going to change out to the old school pin style and delet the latch all together. Does anyone have any real world experience doing this on the s550?

One of the aftermarket companies has them on their car. (Saleen, Roush, Steeda, etc) I doubt they deleted the latch though.
