I never had a problem with manual driving so gonna just turn it off.[/QUOTE]

Exactly. When I was 16, and still learning how to drive, I might have appreciated this feature. Might have.

Yep exactly, years of driving manuals without this and never once rolling back into someone I don't need the computer to help me at this point.

Frankly features like this, or blind spot awareness, or adaptive cruise control really upset me. We are breeding worse drivers with every single "assist" that a manufacture puts in place.

It's simple. If you can start a manual on a hill without the computer holding the brakes for you, buy an automatic.

If you can't check your own blind spots, or can't slow yourself down on the freeway though then you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a vehicle at all let alone empowered by vehicle manufactures to not have to bother with these things.

Think that's a bit extremist. Not a fan of the hill start assist, but I can understand why some people would want it. BLIS is pretty damn neat; I don't have any glaring blind spots but it's nice to have that little yellow dot in my periphery as a heads up. They're aids, nothing more and nothing less. They're not crutches that handicap drivers from being capable.

To be honest, I think the software isn't set up correctly, it seems to engage even on flat ground sometimes... and actually when I finally turned mine off, I got the impression it may have been engaging the brakes very slightly even when the car was in motion. Ford should probably run some tests on this application, and maybe refine the actions a bit.

They are absolutely crutches, especially adaptive cruise control as there is absolutely no reason that the machine should be required to control your vehicle for you.

Go buy a base model car without all of those "crutches" then if they bother you so much.

I ordered my GT without them because I chose to drive the car on my own.

Thanks though.

I'm probably going to shut if off. I've had it on for the past two weeks I've owned the car and it's come into play a few times. None of the hills I ever experience are steep enough where I would have to concentrate on the brake to gas shuffle. I've never once had an issue in years of driving manual cars. If I lived in say, San Francisco, Seattle or somewhere with lots of steep hills everywhere, it'd be handy.

Yep, I've been driving manual for about 17 years now. I thought the idea was kind of cool so I've left it on the since I purchased it a few weeks back. I'm done with it now though and turning it off today as soon as I remember to toggle through the options and disable it. It's only kind of bugged me when taking off so I've yet to feel any benefit from it. Feels weird having an external type feeling brake holding off the line.

Holy crap, I'm heading outside to shut this junk off. This function creeped me out big time. You guys made my day.

I grew up driving manuals in and around san francisco, enough said.

Just to follow back up on this.... I drove with this on for about 3 weeks and have now had it off for about a week. I'm happy to report back I enjoy this feature being disabled considerably. It feels like a considerably more pure manual experience. I don't feel any hanging type feeling when pulling away from a stop. It just feels smoother is probably the best way I can describe it. No digs on people that want to leave it on but if you've driven manuals for quite a long time like many of us here, you may want to just try driving a few days without it engaging.

I need to turn the hill assist off too. Stalled it due to this.
