So, not entirely related to things, I killed my transmission this previous weekend. Wah wah, nobody cares.

However, and this is where we turn this around on you, get your TSB's taken care of, if you haven't already. The MT82-D4 is garbage, and Ford knows and knew about it, and for those with mid-2019 production runs, and later 2020 and newer ones, you're alright. For us manuals though, here's hoping you've got time left, because unless you get the cool kid extended warranty plan, chances are your time might be running out.

So, TSB's
18-2083 - 2nd gear sucking -- https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10137069-9999.pdf
18-2175 - 3rd and 4th sucking -- https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10144179-9999.pdf
18-2267 - 1st and 2nd sucking -- https://latemodel.cachefly.net/downloads/instructions/18-2267.pdf
18-2341 - 3rd and 4th sucking (our first fix sucked, this sucks less), supercedes 17-2175 -- https://latemodel.cachefly.net/downloads/instructions/18-2351.pdf

According to my friends at Ford who've seen me on like... a weekly basis, you can't just drop the transmission off, and if you've got a stripped out race car like mine, they'll laugh you off the property when you try talking about warranty work.

If you're out of that period, those TSB do list the parts that you'll need, in addition to a service manual, some friends, sockets/wrenches/breaker bars/hydraulic presses... and about $400ish bucks for each, give or take. The parts tend to be special order, so you're looking at 2 weeks for most of them. Ordering another transmission will cost you just under $3k with core, shipping, and taxes, and is an even longer wait, so see if you can get them to do it.

Problem with TSBs unfortunately is that most dealers (if not all) will not do them on warranty unless the problem occurs. I've tried in the past and was sent home.

My 2019 was built in March 2019. Is mine okay?

That's lame, but yeah, it's technically not a recall, it's a yo we f'd up and we hope you aren't screwed over by it. Depends on your relationship with them, I'm at the parts counter every month thanks to my heap. Perhaps something to keep in mind for a youngster that's about to jump off a bridge.

I believe you'd have to ask them to run your VIN against the OASIS. My initial guess is you're okay because of the dates they were announced, but my guy tells me that a TSB for a TSB is not uncommon at all.

MT82 issues for 2018's were known in 2018; this thread contained that info and TSB's about failing shift forks:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...sted-1-2-3-4-shift-forks.113062/#post-2394500

Not every 2018+ had issues with the MT82 either, same way not every 2018+ has issues with the 10R80. Most of the manufacturer "defects" were resolved by warranty repairs. Sure it sucks to having to have a warranty repair, but it's not the end of the world.

Also if a 2018+ went in for clutch fork issues, if the shop was good, they would have replaced all of the forks at once while the trans was being R&R'd (OR warrantied out the entire trans as that was an option) and not just the single problematic concern of the customer.

One more note - if the car is taken to a Ford Dealer and it is diagnosed to have the faulty clutch forks - even if the new car 3/36 is done, the transmission is still covered under the 5/60 Powertrain. Being there are TSB's about the known clutch fork issues, the job should be covered under the 5/60 warranty. Bring the TSB's to avoid any kickback from lower level dealers that don't keep up on Ford TSB/SSM/GSB's.
