I have a 19 GT with the heat shields on the exhaust. I have a pypes x pipe that I’m trying to install. The problem is they want you to remove the heat shields. I was thinking of cutting the x pipe and the factory pipe to fit with the heat shields still there. Has anyone else done this.

Yes. Cut the heat shields. If for some reason you don't wanna do that, then you can try and shorten the pypes a little bit. As long as the overall length is there you'll be fine. Not sure if you have enough length on the slip joint if it's cut.

In all honesty, just cut the shields.

I've had an MBRP X-pipe, a Steeda H-pipe, and a Magnaflow resonated X-pipe, and none of those three were designed in a way that the shields needed to be cut. I'd see if there's a way to modify the X-pipe before modifying the stock exhaust.

It’s probably designed for the 15-17. Cause Steeda makes a specific for the 18-19 to where the cut is before the heat shields.

I was about to cut the x pipe a 1” off the front was able to keep the heat shields. This also saved a lot of work getting them welds down from the heat shields. Hope this helps someone in the future.

this makes sense since my 15 GT didn’t have any heat shields on the stock system.
