I recently got a tune from BAMA Performance a few weeks ago. After loading on the tune to my car everything ran perfectly...Until i started to throw a code. The code was P0300 (Random Misfire), which is weird because my car was not misfiring. I cleared the code and ran the car a few more weeks and the code came on again. So i contacted Bama Performance and they told me to try to do a crank relearn. So i tried to do a crank relearn. As i was going through the motion of that my X4 tuner said that the relearn failed. I checked the DTC codes again and another code was on P0315 (Crankshaft Position System Variation Not Learned.) This code does not want to clear and i can't perform a crank relearn.

Have any of you all ran into this problem before?

Can anyone from Bama Performance help me out?

You have to complete the action until it says it's completed. Your head temperature should be above 185 degrees so the car has to be warmed up.

There are certain conditions that have to be met before the crank relearn will be successful. Car had to be up to operating temp, but not too hot (I fidget what the exact temp range is). AC compressor had to be off. I think there are one or two other stipulations. My experience is that if it doesn't complete with one, maybe two quick revs to 4K RPM...it's not going to, and it's best to try again later.

If it does it again after the crank relearn you will need to get your tune revised. It might be a issue with GTPP cars as Lund also has some sort of issue with initial tune for GTPP cars it's a simple adjustment in the tune.

the screen of the X4 will tell you what conditions need to be met to successfully preform a crank relearn

I had to do a crank relearn on my GTPP after tuning. I found out the BDX tuner does NOT have that function (even though it is a cousin to the SCT) but the SCT X4 does.

Both times tuning the car I had to do a relearn, but fortunately the CEL never came back after completion. It ran great even with a CEL on, but naturally I had to get that cleared for future inspection.

UPDATE: I ran the car to get up to operating temperature and tried it again. At first it said that it failed, but i revved the car a few times while simultaneously attempting to start the crank relearn and it finally went through. Check engine light instantly turned off.

Thanks for the help guys!

Dang, I had no idea about that.
It also surprised my local tuner. He looked it over too (while I was at their shop using his SCT X4 to clear my code the first time) The function was simply not there, so I traded it in for an X4.
