catback for convert

I got the Solo performance XV ss catback. Great sound, great look, and it fits around the convertible bracing just fine. You do have to lower the bracing to put it on, but that is just bolted on, so no big deal.

Re convertibles: this is my 5th one. Yes, you have to shop a bit to get the right parts. That's because it's unique. In most mustangs runs I join, I am one of usually 2 convertibles. Recently went to a 110 Mustang meet, so that number jumped to almost half a dozen, I think. Maybe less. Oh, and resale is higher, too. But then they cost more when you buy them.

The 6g Mustang convert top is excellent. When it is up I feel like I am in a coupe, but with better headroom. When it's down, well...that's why I buy them. And performance is still there. I don't run it on the track, but some do.

Rent a convertible...that's how I got hooked. If it doesn't hook you, don't buy. You'll know.

Look at my sig, I'm basically fully loaded

Only reason I'd ever consider a coupe is if I wanted to race at this point, and didn't have to worry about my license enough to attempt a top speed run, otherwise no regrets other than being in Jersey still xD

Thanks guys, this has been a fun thread to read. "internet fighting" has been kept to a minimum!

I'm definitely going to get a convertible. I've worked in the car business for about 20 years at this point and driven just about every drool-worthy car (even if it was just down the street to get gas), and I know I will love a convertible. I love the fresh air. I'm also cursed by having driven vehicles that are much faster or lighter or both than the mustang. This mustang doesn't feel like a race car to me, and although I am sure I could modify it to be faster, I'd rather do that with something that would be more fun and cheaper to drive. The mustang hits me as more of a grand touring vehicle, which a convertible is perfect for. I'll definitely be doing some modifying (louder and slightly faster is always good), but where I live is perfect for convertibles, and I won't live here forever. Date night in San Francisco with my wife with the top down sounds really good to me. Please know, though, this is all just my opinion. I hope that I don't offend anyone by saying that this isn't what I consider a race car. I am also not speaking about the GT350, as I have not driven one. I am sure the extra power, better handling, and lighter weight makes a huge difference.

Thanks again for all the awesome comments. I have belonged to many car forums over the years (one of the first things I do when I purchase a new vehicle), and I can't wait to settle into this one. You seem like a great group of people!

Cool, nice build!

I've been wondering about building an ecoboost, but with emissions here, I'd have to put it back to stock every 2 years (once it hits 4 years old). Also, I really want the V8 rumble. How do you like the sound???

I was going to throw in my $0.02, but looks like I am late to the party.

I am glad you made a decision, OP! A tune and an exhaust is plenty to wake up the convertible.

I hope you enjoy your stay here on M6G. There is a wealth of information on these 'stangs, and a ton of helpful people here.

If you get the vert, I would suggest you get the 401a package. This will give you blind spot monitoring. Not so important for day to day especially with top down. But when you try to back out of a parking space in like say a mall parking lot, it can be a life saver. I owned a 2013 vert, and on the very few occasions where my top was up, backing out of a space was terrible. You can't see a damn thing coming at you. I lived in Bakersfield CA when I had my vert and literally only had the top up a couple of days during Dec. On my 2015 GT I decided to go coupe. In the vert with the top down, I couldn't read my speedo at all, and couldn't see the info on the radio because the sun washed it out. I will admit that I do miss the vert at times, but living in the high desert where it's REALLY windy quite often, and gets pretty cold during the winter months I feel like I made the correct choice with the fastback.
If I lived in San Mateo (I was actually born there), it would be a vert without a doubt.

It's no V8, and I haven't finished the exhaust, but I like it enough, though if my Dad didn't wring out the GT I was cruising with him in that one day, would of had that instead

They're that strict that a HFC wouldn't work? Think Dirty Jerzy here is similar to Commiefornia with their emissions and my A4 with it's HFC did fine

Coming from the Sunshine state of the world, London UK
As for mods, I have the Borla Axleback, which is made special for the Vert, and sounds pretty good :D
As for all weathers, this is my 3rd vert, had a Crossfire and a S197 before that, if the roof is up, then its fine in the rain, or cold.
But i do agree with the above, the rear monitoring sensor is superb, the other day parked at a big shopping mail, come out had a SUV one side and a big van the other, so started edging out, and suddenly the car buzzed, and the lights come on in the mirrors and 10 seconds later a car come at speed across me.
It was not to bad with the S197 as that sits higher then the S550, would def recommend that package
mind you I love all the tech even the ACC as you need that to get the rain sensing wipers, which is pretty daft

Nice! Like I said, if I was anywhere else in the country, it would be a coupe no doubt. it does make me sad that I am close to some great tracks, and will have a convertible instead of a coupe, but I haven't been anywhere yet and I've lived here 2 years... plus, I am thinking I will get a kart for when my son is old enough to start learning. In the meantime, I'll just enjoy the nice weather!

I don't think highflow cats are legal here... if they are, they'll have to be CARB approved, which adds a pretty penny to the price.
