Hey All!

I have a 2017 GT. I am about to add a GT350 manifold/intake. So far those are the only engine mods I have done aside form a JLT CAI. What do I need to replace to be able to run E85? Once all the parts are installed I will have it tuned by PB Dyno.

ETA: I wont be using E85 exclusively for to availability so I will be swapping back and forth between 93 and E85.

With a 15-17 and the upgraded manifold you'll need to upgrade your injectors. Min 47lbs. That plus tune revision you'll be able to run e85r or a flex tune.

Noob questions...

What's the difference between a flex tune and E85 tune?

Alco, can anyone recommend a good set of injectors?

E85 is a dedicated tune. Ramps up timing earlier because it assumes the e content. A flex tune has the same peak power but does not have the initial timing. But it goes on e content and allows you to run any fuel, 91/93 or e85 or any mix. The dedicated e85 tune requires you to switch tunes when you switch fuels.

If you are going 47lb the Ford Performance ones are fine. If you are considering ever going boost then I'd say at least the Injector Dynamics ID1050.

Now with this dedicated e85 tune if you ever wanted to go back to 91 ( CA) do you need another tune or can you just reload the stock tune. If I go this route I wouldn't run E85 as much due to availability but I do have a station 15 min away it says. After that its 45 min. Pretty scarce.

It seems like most tuners do a performance non-E tune, with a dedicated E85 tune as a "extra" (for another $100 for example), so you wind up with both tunes, i.e., when you're not running E85, you're still running a much better than stock tune (especially if it's setup for 93 octane).

You will definitely need injectors with the manifold upgrade and the E85. But that is all you'll need. If you're wanting to swap, you'd just select the primary fuel type and the E85 and you'll provide logs for both fuel types. Hit me up if you have any questions or want to go over all the options for injectors and which ones typically work the best for your 2017. Lethalperformance.com

As @Stephen@lethal mentioned all you need for that setup to be able to run E85 is a custom tune and some injectors. 47lb injectors are quite popular as well as our LP52's which actually flow more and cost less than the 47's.

Feel free to give us a shout if there's anything we can help you with.

Thanks!

I recently switched to E85 in my 2016 with a dedicated E85 tune. I can switch it back at anytime to my 93 gas tune like if I need to travel. Huge difference. I’m about to upgrade to a GT350 intake as well and I’ll get the bigger injectors when I do and also an updated tune. I’ve got a Sunoco station near me that has some good E85.
