This push pin that goes through this thick foam shield thingy was loose and fell out on my driver side.
1. What exactly is this thick padding and purpose? I'd like to know for my knowledge. It's wedged between the gap from the engine bay to where your doors hinge, right inside the front fenders where your 5.0 badges are. You probably never noticed it, but you'll see what I'm talking about.
2. How the hell do I get this pin back in to secure the padding from possibly moving around. The pin on my driver side foam thing was loose and eventually fell out to the undercarriage. The pin has to go through the thick padding, then through the hole in the metal bracket starting from the front side under the hood. Meaning when the pin is in correctly, you should see the stem & pointy end of the plastic pin in the hole when you open the door. The push pin will not secure the foam pad if you start it from the door hinge area. If you pop the hood and look down above the fender you can see the foam and where the push pin needs to go. I tried getting my arm down through here but it's impossible to reach the push pin hole unless your arm is hella skinny. It also takes a good amount of force to push the pin through the thick foam and through the metal bracket so there isn't much leverage either from the top. I'm just going to leave it for now and hope that the foam pad doesn't move around easily but I would like to get this push pin back in properly.
Anyone come across this or know an easy way to address this?
