Wow! I am impressed by the richness of the opinions; insightful and balanced. This is why I am so confused: each model have its own character and “raison-d’etre”.

I did noticed that neither the GT or the EB drives around corners like a mid-engine. So be it. Love the Boxster but small and getting old. I won’t race it nor do I plan to drive like a maniac in turns. I will try to find another dealer that has both model, and will try them out but what I leaned from these posts is that the PP might be best given I don’t plan to mod it, no matter the model I select.

For the member from Ottawa, I am in kanata and love to drive the Old Carp Road and Old Almonte Road. I’ll go to kanata Ford and get them to tests the GT and EB around these roads. The issue is that this dealer mostly sell trucks, and don’t have many mustangs on the lot so I need to be patient until they get a few loads.

I agree that I don’t need to purchase one from there.

I am printing these answers, they are that good. Thanks a million.
Either car will suffice with the Performance package. Keep in mind that the EB will have regular gas (87) at the dealership and therefore have a lot less HP. 93 is required for full HP rating.

My car does twisties very nice and it don’t have PP.

Drive them all EB, GT both with and without PP and then decide.

EB PP soon
If you go EB, definitely go with the Performance Pack. The brakes, the gears, tower and strut braces will give u a solid car. The convertible will be a tad expensive, but since you’re getting the manual, you’re saving in the A10.

Buy a Corvette ZR1. The damn things pull 1.24Gs on the skid-pad.

I think alot of that is from the tires. I bet a GT with great track tires could pull like 1.15g atleast, maybe more if it was lowered. I got 1.11g on my 2009 cts-v and it weighed about 4350 lbs, and that was on potenza RE-11s in the stock size with the stock suspension.

I bet if a GT had potenza s007 in 315/35/20 rear and 295/35/20 front on good rims (fine for street driving treadwear 220 actually), was lowered, had magneride it could pull 1.2+ g. Bone stock ive done 1.02g so far on my pp1 gt. The S007 design just seems so good for cornering but other tires with less treadwear could do better too.

If that was the case, than a GT350R or PP2 car could get close.

Tires are a big part, but the Corvette and Camaro simply are more aggressively set-up suspension wise, and have lower COGs.

If you get the EB, I'd strongly recommend a tune. Cobb has finally come out with a tuner for the 18 model, if that's what you buy. In my car, the Cobb AP woke up the engine like night and day. The throttle is a whole lot more responsive now. Installation is so easy it shouldn't even count as modding a car, IMO, just plug it in and push the buttons. You won't even get any grease under your fingernails.

Again, thanks all.

With this info, I will go back to the dealer and try both models, with PP. and I’ll demand to try them on country roads.

Magnaride is a “distinct” upgrade vs the PP?

Again, thank you. This has been insightful. And polite sharing of insights, as well, great forum!

It's more versatile. Upgrade depends on your wants for the car. If you were to always drive it in sport damper mode, I'd probably skip it and upgrade the PP dampers and springs to get a great sports car feel. Drive it to see how much it matters to you. I do know that the Magneride cars are actually softer sprung than the normal PP.

Skid pad grip G and peak G in cornering are not the same. I've gotten to 1.2G in my car too, but I don't think it'd hold much over 1.05-1.1 on a skid pad.

This! I miss active suspension from my prior car on rough rides or even in subdivisions with those filled cracks. With active you can have your smooth ride AND firm it up for fun.

Kind of like active exhaust, I can have fun on the open road but also turn it down for creeping out of my neighborhood.

You've got a lot of good suggestions here, so I'll make mine a simple observation. The GT is a beast, it's loud and has power that doesn't end. We love our '18 GT Vert. But, if you're not looking for a beast in general, and want the car to handle good in the curves then the EB will fit your needs nicely. And, as said above you will have a ton of cash left over to mod the EB if you want.

And for comparison, the new EB has more horse power, and torque than my 2006 GT Coupe. So there's that......:)

Getting a 4 cylinder in your mustang is kinda like getting a virgin drink at a night club at 10pm, right before it's gonna take off. Why go to the night club and get a virgin drink? Why buy a mustang and get a 4 cylinder, sorry to say, there are alot better 4 cylinder sports machines out there for the money. Not so for the V8, It's a work of Art, 4 Overhead Cam dual VVT 32 valve V8, WhAAAAAAAT? And your interested in the 4 cylinder? what the hll man>?

You could always get a used V6 since it was the lightest S550 (Here come the flame wars hehe)...If ford offered the V6 with better engine tuning and tires, I bet a lot of ecoboosters would be in the 6 instead.

I can throw my 2 cents in.....:) I've owned a gt coupe and a gt vert. Each time I chose the V8 because I wanted the V8 characteristics that everyone keeps bringing up (Revs/power, sound, etc).
A lot of it has to do with your capabilities as a driver and what type of experience you want in the "twisties" ...do you want a more relaxed/cruising/auditory experience then definitely get the V8. The EB will feel more nimble with the lighter engine up front. Jay Leno raved about the EB in his GT350R video (Jay Leno's Garage episode on you tube).
Your level of aggressiveness will determine whether you need to upgrade the suspension on either platform.
i plan on taking a high performance driving class (or two or three...) to learn more about what it takes to drive aggressively and still maintain control. I may find at some point that the vert has it's limits in this case. If I want to exceed those limits then I need to looking for a different ride or buying a second vehicle and modding it for that purpose.
If your not looking to set any time trial records the EB will be fine... If you want the classic muscle car characteristics of the V8 spend the extra money. It was worth it for me.
