I love the low mount. No heat in the engine bay. It's 115° out here right now. Normally I wouldn't push it on pump gas but on my e30 tune the car rips in the heat better than my pump gas tune in the winter so I'm waiting impatiently for winter to really give it the beans! Hellion's scavenger pump works great. I was leary at first because of how slow it turns but its been solid for over 4 years. I did replace the belt once because it had a little cracking but it was minor. I only did it preemptively because I had a shoulder surgery coming up and knew I'd be out of commission for a bit.Gotcha! I feel like that may be the route I have to take. I’ll have to see though.

I’m more than ready to get started on it! Believe me when I say, they can’t finish building the house fast enough.I love the low mount. No heat in the engine bay. It's 115° out here right now. Get your house done so you can start that build brother!![]()
I knew it works because hellion kit does it. I don't like drilling stuff if I don't have to. You could tap right into the pan if you have a metal one I suppose and it would probably eliminate the need for a pump.@Vandor what made you decide to go with a scavenging pump over tapping the oil pan or timing cover for your turbo drain? I’m looking for the best drain solution on my Gen. 3 as well.
I looked at that too and did a lot of research. The bad side is they use a proprietary grease that is stupid expensive and you have to grease them a lot. I read a post where the guy regretted it because he said he had to grease them at about half the recommended intervals or they would start making noise.Or go with oil-less turbos
Copy that. I would like to weld a -10AN bung onto the timing cover if I can get a clear path back to the turbo drain, but it’s going to be tight in that area. I’m adding an electric water pump too, so the hoses will have to be reconfigured.I knew it works because hellion kit does it. I don't like drilling stuff if I don't have to. @Vandor are your charge pipe and compressor flanges v-band or are they connected via a silicone coupler?
Mine are v-band flanges, but I was struggling with trying to figure out how I would seal them using 3.5” Viton o-ring gaskets that are supposed to seat into a channel cut into the charge pipe flange. It appeared to me that the flange had been inadvertently coated, thus filling up the o-ring groove and creating a fitment issue.
Yesterday. I ended up cleaning the powder coating out of that channel in the charge pipe and now the gasket will fit. The next challenge will be keeping it in place once I go to mate it to the compressor flange. I’m thinking some Permatex High Tack silicone o-ring safe spray.
I’ve read a little bit about copper gaskets being recommended for the header to hot side flanges, so I’m trying to sort out as much of this as possible and come up with a solid plan before installation time.
How will you guys will approach those portions of the install to ensure no leaks?
