Hey, I've just received my manual GT and I love it.
I'm finding it hard to blip the throttle on downshifts because the brake pedal is too high relative to the throttle.
The US guys have come up with a spacer kit to put under the throttle mount where it attaches to the floor, but our RHD cars are different, the throttle and brake pedals are mounted to one larger unit at the floor.
Has anyone found a way to lift our accelerator pedal up higher?
There's a Torx screw on the back of the accelerator pedal that holds the pedal itself on, I wonder if a longer screw and a custom plate might do it...

I have given up on heel toe'ing due to not being able to control the brake pressure as the pedal is too high and my foot is at risk of slipping off. Alternating rev matches and braking is still plenty of fun though :)

Would be interested if there's a solution too.

msweet loves to do this, seems pretty quick at it. I just transfer my foot over and do it slowly as I'm slowing down, more for show off effect than anything else hahah

You can buy a "heel/toe" accelerator extension from American Muscle. I have one and it is wonderful.

I'm reassured that someone else found this to be a problem, people were saying that my driving technique needed modifying etc... for a while I thought it was just me!

I had the exact same issue and thought process... when heel/toeing, especially when braking lightly, the accelerator pedal felt about 2cm too 'deep' relative to the brake pedal = hard to reach.
While researching aftermarket options I also encountered the same problem with the RHD accelerator and brake pedals being attached together as one unit (we can't use firewall spacers to mount accelerator higher).

My solution - I fashioned an accelerator pedal extension (using the pedal from a $30 Sparco set from Supercheap auto) which I connected to the accelerator pedal using 4 bolts, basically a 'floating' extension. It worked really well!

I reckon the Steeda heel toe accelerator extension from American Muscle (mentioned by Daffy above) would also be a perfect pedal to use to modify our accelerator position. Steeds's pedal is wider, so it'll easier to reach in a left/right direction as well as an up/down direction.

Here are some pre–install pics of my ghetto accelerator extension.

I drilled 4 holes into the stock pedal and used locking nuts on both sides to get it all positioned, floating above the standard pedal. Sorry I don't have pics of it all installed!

It raised my pedal 2cm and when I heel-toe the relative pedal heights are pretty much the same as when I heel toe in my 350z and S2000. Much more natural feeling :)

Yeah I can't heel/toe in this car unless driving hard, pretty annoying. Most of the time I just rev match and alternate brake/accelerator.

I didn't even realise our pedals were different to the US haha.

I have the cjpony clutch pedal extension, if they made the same for the accelerator I'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

Well that sucks...why did they attach it to the brake pedal! Old post, but has anyone figured out a solution for the low RHD accelerator?

so i realise this is very Heath Robinson but i used a Steeda pedal cover and using nutsert panel tabs i created the below. Its the accelerator pedal, not like it gets pressure of the clutch pedal. I think i could raise it by putting a thin rubber strip between the stock cover and the Steeda or spacer nuts on the nutsert threads but i haven't done it and tbh i'd be concerned that the pedals would get too close together for comfort

You have a link for those clips? I never installed that pedal because I don't think I want to drill into it after all, but this is a solid solution!

thank you, looking at the last picture i should have put the second screw on the outside edge to have the two tabs pointing towards each other, not sure if the pedal contour underneath got in the way, 3 yrs on and still attached tightly so i guess it works and you dont see it either.

The place i bought the panel tabs from is UK located and postage doubles the cost but you must be able to locate similar US side or even make something yourself - 5mm bolts fit tightly in the steeda pedal and countersunk drops the heads right into the pedal itself

I'm thinking I can just use a bolt, a spacer, a large(r) washer and a nut to accomplish the same. The only issue is the far right nutsert seems to be grasping at an angle and I am sure that helps it clip on a bit better.

yep i'd say that'd be all you'll need to do, even if you shape the washer a little to made it suit the pedal contour. Pity i didn't take a full picture of the back side of the pedal before attaching stuff to it. Oh well
