Apologies if this has been answered but done a search on my question and got 3 posts back.....

Does the Mustang have a heated front windscreen fitted as standard OR is there an option to tick to have one fitted?

I ask because when it comes over to Europe (UK in my case) it's going to go up against other cars in the price range which has this option fitted as standard e.g. BMW, Audi etc. I woke up this morning to a windscreen covered in ice and thought, I hope the mustang has this option.....

It is a Mustang not a Mondeo! My old Ford Mondeo had a heated windshield. You can't even get a Mustang with a heated steering wheel in Canada.

Be careful what you wish for.

IIRC, the earlier Ford Taurus had this option. Reportedly it rendered radar detectors considerably less useful, and probably gave the car a bigger radar cross-section to boot.

This is an option I've ONLY seen on European cars, and by no means all U.S.-market European cars. American cars and Japanese cars have front window defrosters -- i.e., they blow hot air on the front windshield from the inside.

I've seen heated windshields on Land Rovers, and on one Bentley I drove. I've never seen them on BMWs or Mercedes. A guy I know has a LOADED 2013 BMW 330xi, absolutely every option including the powered rear privacy curtains... but that doesn't have a heated windshield. I think this is basically a European-market thing.

Granted, I haven't driven every car, so I could be wrong, but it seems like in the U.S. forced-air window defrosters are the standard.

This is the one thing that drives me sort of batty. On REALLY cold mornings a heated steering wheel would be super-nice -- alas.

We had a wire-heated window in our Acura TL here in the US. Only the bottom 4" was done, but it sure did a job on any ice we got on the windshield.

Wish they'd go to that --- it was a GREAT accessory. :D

I have not owned a BMW or Mercedes but they mentioned to include the heated windscreen as an option......I know MINI who is owned by BMW have this as an option as well as we have adding this to the wife's car.

You may be right about it being a European thing but I thought for you guys living in the parts of the US that get cold, it would be a nice option as well.

We shall see what is revealed, but thanks for the replies all :)

Heated Windshields are an option in more than 75% of cars made today. (even kia minivans have heated windshields)

I checked in our system and the NAGS system and there are no options for a heated windshield for the 2015/2016 mustangs (export or not)(fastback or convertible)

the only windshields that are available:

non-acoustic / pony in 3rd visor frit
acoustic / pony in 3rd visor frit
acoustic / w/rain sensor (no pony)

Also, Heated windshields do not affect the performance of radar detectors.
Windshields that have a metallic layer in them (solar) that affects radar/laser, etc.

LOL I didn't even know what a 'heated windshield' even was until this post and Ive owned tons of cars. Is just turning on the defrost on max and waiting 5 minutes not good enough for the boojie set? :-)

It's a really really useful option for a number of reasons -- it allows you to keep the windshield defrosted without messing with the climate control system (so you don't have to have all the air blowing at your windshield and can blow it in your face instead on a cold day); it works WAY better when there's actual ice on the windshield than an air defroster; it prevents that streaky windshield look you get from wipers that have ice chunks to roll over as you're driving. It's a really nice feature.

My wife has the heated steering wheel in her 2015 Lincoln MKC and I love it when we go on trips. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that is part of the Mustang Technology package upgrade in 2016 or 2017.

My wife had a heated steering wheel in her $22,000 CAD Dodge Journey what was included in the heated front seat package. That's why I thought actually it would be also in the heated seat package in the PREMIUM models. I didn't think FORD wouldn't include that future in a $40,000 CAD Mustang. Our Grand Cherokee has it too. Some thinks don't match with this packages FORD makes available for us. A Fusion could be ordered with heated steering wheel. Don't know about the heated windshield.

Just read this on Carscoops:

"Ford has been offering heated windscreens for 26 years, since the technology debuted on the Scorpio.

Standard on all but 11 Ford models sold in Europe, the patented Quickclear system uses a mesh of very thin heating wires embedded between two layers of windscreen glass to provide rapid de-icing and de-fogging. The push-button system clears windscreens in seconds, which is obviously better than spending minutes scraping the ice and waiting for the engine to get to temperature in order to blow warm air onto the windscreen."

I know the redesigned Ford Transit was including this technology, but I believe it may be another few years down the road for the remaining Ford product line. As a matter of fact, it isn't even included with any of the new redesigned 2015 Lincolns.
