After my last post I took your advice and went to speak to the dealership about the issues we had ordering. It ended up with them losing my pre-order but they offered me another GT500 they had already ordered. The only issue is that this car has the Recaro Seats. I have the car, picked it up today. These Recaro seats are definitely coming out. My question to you all is this, can you add back in the normal seats, what do I need to purchase to make this happen, what can never work?

So far from reading on the forum I have concluded that getting the power to work is pretty easy but what harnesses would I need to buy for the heating and cooling. I am okay taking this car apart and putting it back together if I have to to make this work. Thank you for the input.

Where are you going to get a set of 2020 Sport Seats?

So my current working plan for parts is as follows -
  1. Upgrade the alternator to the 200 amp model. This is needed to maintain the heated seats running while the car is running.
  2. Swap the AC controller for one that includes the Heating/Cooling controls.
  3. The Seats - Since this is a Mustang, the seats from any of the other S550 should fit into the car. I can purchase some and have them either changed to fit the interior or keep them as is provided they come in black. I know this isn't ideal but its the working plan.
I have taken a look inside the car and as far as I can tell, it appears that the wiring harness for the heated/cooled seats is in place.

I'm sure you could find another GT500 owner in your position with Standard Sport Seat that they would be willing to trade for Recaro's.

I like to disassemble things.
Are you aware of the code changes needed in the appropriate control module(s)?

Are there really 2 different alternators for the GT500?

have you looked at those Carroll Shelby Signature Mustang Seats? Those are so sweet (kinda best thing about that car)? I would love those in my GT500

Is the heating and cooling of the seats computer controlled rather than simple toggle switches?

The seats have options to turn them on via the touch screen so I would assume computer controlled.

There is a DIY thread on here that talks about what was needed for a base car to get heated/cooled seats and it says you need a wiring harness and a Sync update if the OP wants to keep it stock. Seems like a lot of work that will potentially severely devalue your 500 (due to messing with the wiring and computer aftermarket, even if it’s stock equipment)

Beyond hardware changes it looks like you'll need to get into the APIM as well via FORScan, etc.

Thank you for all the input.

So I have a few answers so far.

  1. The Alternator - As crazy as it seems, I do think there are 2 variations of the Alternator. I have not physically taken a look at the car's alternator but I am hoping to get some time to verify. Ford does use 2 different one's on the GT350 for heated/cooled seats (200 amp) and for Recaros (175 amp). I don't see any reason this would not be true for the GT500.
  2. The Harness - My car appears to have the Heated/Cooled Harness already installed. I have been able to take a look under the seats and find an unused harness. If anyone has a picture of what the heated/cooled seat harness looks like or could point me to one, I would appreciate it.
  3. The Code - i did not know about the changes or how to perform them. Thank you for the video guide.
  4. Other Options - One other idea I have had is to find seats that I can add the heating and cooling into aftermarket and swap them in. I have seen the Katzkin Degreez. This would allow me to keep the car closer to stock.
