Which ones do you prefer. im leaning toward the Ford Racing, but the Driveshaft Shop Half axles are 400 less. im wondering if id be paying for the name of the Ford Racing and missing out on the same thing with the Driveshaft Shop brand....

None if you are auto, either if you are manual.

Why do you say none if auto?

Im wondering the reason behind the different diameters of the stock shafts. Also is it the smaller diameter shaft that snaps first?

Im not sure but im going to Whipple up in February. ive already done a tune, intake, aluminum driveshaft, "H" Pipe with borla atak axle backs, lowering springs, eibach sway bars, Steeda bushings, Steeda toe links, subframe IRS connectors and a "K" frmae connector.

plans are the whipple, half shafts, grill delete and new rims and tires (285 in front 315 in backs running on 20").

putting that much money into the car I want to make sure the axles are going to be the right ones. that's why im asking.

I just added my Whipple to my 2016 and will be adding the Ford Racing half shafts within the next month. Just read too many quality issues on the DSS shafts here on the forum. I'm also adding the McCleod RXT Clutch and some BMR items to stop the Wheel Hop. Never experienced it before adding the Whipple, but with all the extra power I feel it now :D

Unequal shaft diameter is to prevent wheel hop. When the tire is fighting for traction, it will bounce off of the ground. This causes a twisting and unloading of that axle. It then gets into a rhythm and the axles take turns twisting and unloading. The uneven diameter breaks up this rhythm.

Auto's are just not breaking like the manual cars, mostly because the launch is far less traumatic. My 15GT is making 650+/10 sec@134mph and I've launched my car 20+ times at the strip on heavy 20" wheels with MT's. There are also a few 9 second auto GT's on stock half shafts with 100+ pass's with zero problems. However, I've witnessed an MT82 car snap an axle on stock power level on his first launch.

Ford racing shafts are made by Gforce. They are backed by a lifetime warranty and 1500hp rated. That's the reason I chose them and same with kelly from BMR. And in regards to an auto, yes your less prone to breaking a factory shaft but it's still like playing with fire while doing hard launches if you have a converter or 2 step

well the pole right now is 50/50... damn it so im still on the fence just before the pole... lol

I know I can trust the Ford Racing. the reason im slow to get the DS axles is that area where the shaft differs in size looks to me to be a weak spot.... I don't know if im wrong
