So was driving at night and hit something that ran out into the road. Likely some kind of small animal. Didn't even feel like much of an impact. Pulled over for an inspection, and thought I was good until I noticed this crack near the headlight. Very hairlinish, hard to notice unless the light hits it right. Anyone know if this could be repairable, preferrably without having to pull the entire bumper?

The paint is cracked, or even filler from a previous repair.
Remove it and have it completely painted.

It will need reinforcing behind the crack or it will come back. Plastic repair is normal practice with the price of some of these parts.

I don't expect this to be in the plastic behind the paint. To clean hair line for this.

I agree, it's really odd damage. The bumper itself doesn't seem cracked, but it's like the impact caused a stress crack in the paint on that spot. I'm thinking it can be sanded down and spot repaired. Had this done before on another spot with a big piece of chipped paint and it came out surprisingly well.

There is nothing that can be done to make it go away other than a full repair. The paint is cracked, No amount of polishing will fix it. Could even be a prior repair under there.

Just to update, took it to my paint and bumper repair guy. He fixed it in a few hours. Crack was in the paint. Sanded it down, then resprayed and blended the area. Looks pretty much perfect.

Lucky. Not enough flex agent in the paint / clear to start with.

Definately something weird was going on with that area. Probably was repaired at some point. Just glad it was fixable.

@DDF126 ;

Just out of sheer curiosity, how much did the repair run you?
