How is that not totaled?
Just as long as the uni-body isn't bent your good. Looks like it could use a new subframe though.

Also the value of the vehicle is way more than the repairs needed so insurance wont total that out.

It must have gotten close because that's a lot of work.

That's $14K in damage (and its guard too :frusty: ), Most states have the 70% rule where if the damages are 70% or more of the car's value it's a total loss.

I watched several of your vids. Total bummer and PITA. Glad to hear that everything worked out though!

I think you should celebrate with a burnout!

I am honestly not sure. However it only has 11K on the clock, and no airbags deployed. The estimate is currently at 22K. However there are a few things missing from the quote that will have to be replaced.

I meet the man who will be doing the job. He said it looks bad because it is. However they are essentially going to pull the car to de-stress it. Then drop the powertrain/harness, replace the rack/engine cradle. Then cut the engine bay rails and shock towers at the dash panel (firewall) while on the rack.

Then put new rails in. They seem pretty confident they can repair and get just as straight as the factory but with much better panel fitment.

Which is bitter sweet. I waited 6 weeks for this car to be built because I wanted a base GTPP with Recaros in Guard. I used to get alot of comments when I first got the car like "hey is that the new mustang" followed by "what color is that?". I get about the same amount of comments, however it's just "What color is that?"

So if it where to be totaled, replacing it would be very difficult given Guard is discontinued. If the car is wonky, I'll trade it in a year and get the 2018 with the power bump.

I feel your pain. The video posted above is of my car, only had 350 miles when the whole driver's side was taken out by a motorcycle. Final repair cost including labor was $15,800. Be sure you get diminished value from your insurance company if they don't total it. Your car might be close though, the estimate will go up after some adjustments once they start work, and it may be close to totaled. Your car can't be worth more than 30k (prior to the accident) if it's a base GTPP with Recaros that has some miles right? 22k in damage is 73% already.

There's still a few leftover 2016 Guards on dealer lots but they're rare and definitely not in the spec you want. It was a toss-up for me too because my car was exactly what I wanted and no other dealership had exactly the same thing so I'd be losing something. In the end I'm glad they didn't total it, the car drives the same as before the accident, panel gap has improved over factory fitment, and all the paint matches perfectly. I was lucky to have a great body shop working on it, I hope you do too and good luck with it all.

Yea we shall see. The guy who is working on it actually hoped it was totaled, because he wanted to buy it and fix it, as it is alot of work; but a pretty straight forward repair.

I was worried about it getting totaled because I sold the stock Recaros when I snagged the somewhat infamous preporduction GT350 seats, and it has part number 1/25 for the GT350R RSD.

However Statefarm said I could pull them, or they would roll it into the estimate.

I am just happy the prototype hood wasn't on the car at the time, and no one got hurt.

I'm not subaruwrxfan, That's Bullitt right below you.

It should of been totaled, I'm sure if you pressed for the write off they wouldn't have put much fight into it. They penny pinched you...

But I feel your pain on the Guard front, I think it is personally the best color that was available for the S550... I don't have an S550 yet (waiting for settlement for current car) and finding a left over is just getting harder and harder. There is one in Las Vegas (300 miles from me) that is exactly how i'd option it aside from having black interior (i'd want saddle) that I have an eye on, Just waiting for my attorney to tell me I can bring the Z back to the dealership I got it from that there's a check waiting for me.
