As you say, time's a tickin' if they want to get any track time in before the winter sets in (ironically, we've had glorious weather here in the UK for the last couple of weeks!)

Besides, if GT500/Halo-car is an '18MY, perhaps they don't need to be there this year/early next. We might not even spot mules until a year or so before release. I do hope we see something soon though.........it'll just prove that something is coming :)

I guess that just goes to show how little we know about forthcoming product :(
Maybe a Mach1?

Do you not think the rumoured Mach 1 would fill that role? I see that as being a GT Plus.......so maybe a little more power, but with MagneRide etc........and then heavy on the traditional Mach 1 styling.

I think the Twin Turbo Coyote that we keep talking about is actually named the Cobra Jet. The program is called "Cobra Jet". Something tells me "Mach 1" was a Mustang engine program that involved a Supercharged Coyote.

The Ecoboost 5.0 (single turbo) has been marketed under the Ecoboost family.
Hmmmm...

I'm adding to this speculation.

I think the "King Cobra" 2015 Mustang Concept is actually a placeholder name for the GT500... Specifically the GT500KR or King of the Road. It will also be internally known as the King Cobra. A joke and poke at the 1978 King Cobra.

The CobraJet name should be used........
Yes, it is obvious now. For some reason I never considered that possibility.

There is also nothing stopping them from releasing a car named after the engine. The Boss engine was a separate entity from the Boss 302 Mustang.

Another great read, thank you.

One has to wonder if the Corvette team geniuses come up with this crap collectively or do they take turns? Without any doubt, crawling under the proverbial rock and remaining silent about this fiasco would be the smartest thing that ever came out of these people but apparently they just do not want to quit.

On the bright side, the car did not overheat this time, unlike in the past, making the entire matter even more comical. By all accounts and hopefully unintentionally, what GM did was introducing a much anticipated GRAND SPORT version of Corvette C7, making it look like the flagship but removing the randomly available power. Realistically, considering the waxing aspirations of the typical geriatric Corvette buyer, the car did its job, delivering an acceptable lap time while castrated, what other validation would a poser edition need?

Hopefully again, the whole charade was not a deliberate action on the part of GM, since without any doubt, overheating issues would make that lap time considerably worse. A failure or an attempt to disguise the notorious overheating problems plaguing the flagship. Perhaps Juechter, Charles or any other of these clowns make come up with even more creative fairy tale to cover up the failure of flagship's engineering failure?

In the meantime, the list of greatest bullshit excuse hits composed by Corvette team continues to grow. Keep up the good work GM!!!
Wow!!! For some strange reason, Chevy Bloggers sound an awful lot like thePill. I am glad these things are coming out of the woodwork now. Hopefully thePill goes down in history as the great pioneer in the GM battle. As people begin to wise up, I feel thePill will become obsolete.

we all appreciate the pill.i like that site because he tells it like it is and you doesnt cry about what people say on it.he still believes in freedom of speech.on another note, you have said it,he has said it,me and alot of other people.the problems with the vette will go to the camaro, and others,at some point.the 13,14 GT500 motors were great!!they didnt have these type of issues.i hope for the next GT500 the 5.2 fpc,is used.as i find more things over there i will let you know.:cheers:

it has an engine!
No the gt500 trinity had a pathetically weak rods. Sure snapped too easy on a maxed out stock blower. Completely laughable.

In my opinion, the old Iron 5.4 was better suited for aftermarket power. From the internals out to the iron block itself. It was just better suited for aftermarket power well beyond 1000hp.

The 5.8 Trinity did receive a bad name, from those that know better. Unfortunately, most people that do complain about that are the small portion that know this fact.

Trinity is better suited under 1000hp... The Iron block 5.4 could handle 2000hp all day long. The problem is, Ford engineered the internals for that... but the FGT nor GT500 ever came from the factory with 1000+hp. So, in order to make the engine cheaper while adding in some tech was to cut back on the Adamantium internal components. The short lived Aluminium 5.4 showed us it's potential. In my opinion, it fell short vs. the FE 5.4.

Going over 1000hp and most people would reach for the 5.8 first. Most would consider the Aluminium 5.4 over the Iron Condor too... I wise decision would be the cheaper Iron block... It was known to handle 2000hp...

I think he is referring to the changes between the old 5.4 and the new 5.8. Many GT500 and Ford GT diehards feel that they softened the 5.8 some. Yet, they didn't blow up as you said.

Yes entirely reasonable to not have to upgrade engine internals while increasing power well well above factory. Not

The 5.8 was very reliable at stock conditions - unlike the z06 at stock conditions

You got to pay to play. No sympathy for those that modify part of a powertrain and expect the rest of the stock components to stand up
