I am hoping for something this week. Jaguar was using the garage last week for testing and there was a race this weekend.

Jaguar shares its garage with Ford.

I see thePill's fan club has been talking, nonstop about him  what a poor group of people. It's more character targeting because the Z06 and ATS-V's last performances were garbage. I am still laughing at the ATS-V's results with Randy driving... what a shitty car...

It amuses me... it absolutely had to be some sort of witchcraft or demon-worship. There is no way a gentleman can be educated, with some experience and have the ability to network  it has to be a supernatural explaination to how thePill is so accurate. I'm guessing... yep... My guesswork is unfortunately more accurate than the manufacture.

I just read through 2 weeks of them talking about me... that is the very definition of sadness. Maximum effort on discrediting thePill, zero effort on giving credit to GM for the last test. What a sad state...

The proliferation of the 9- and 10-speed automatics may be running a bit behind the 2017 MY date that was initially rumored. I say that because the 2017 Super Duty literature is littered with six-speed automatic talk. :)
I completely missed that! Thank you :)

Although the fact they're running late makes me :(

With regards to the ATS-V, I am by no means a GM apologist, but other than minor quibbles, he was fairly pleased with the ATS-V, and it beat the C63S time wise. Is there another Randy Pobst driving review that I missed?

Anyways, back to more GT500 rumor and speculation please.

There isn't much time left at the Ring, October is a crap shoot and realistically the last decent month for testing.

It is entirely possible Ford will keep an "FGT-type" lid on the GT500. One reason being the LT4 Camaro. The answer will likely be a Single or Bi-turbo Coyote. As someone suggested, the Coyote can handle 650+hp with little or no changes, although I expect some internals will be changed. Does the potential for a 700hp Single/Bi-Turbo 5.0 exist? Will we see a PTWA Coyote and the return of a 5.4??? This time Coyote based (cheaper, lighter, TiVCT) and wearing a Focus RS type Turbo?

Where does that leave a Twin Turbo endeavor? A TT 5.4 would be an 800hp engine for sure.

A Turbo V8 could have a place to race competitively just as many Euro purebreds have. Seeing the Ferrari 488, this could be perfect timing by Ford.

As for the Camaro's running the Ring, they didn't put in the effort to produce a blazing lap time OR high speeds. I was told there are speed limits implemented now, even during testing AND, as many seen in the second video released, there was rain. Until the limitations are removed, we will never be capable of piecing together telemetry data from around the track. Nor is there any all out, displays of top speed passed Gate C and Tiergarten. Until that changes, Nurburgring is just a stage to take Spy Pics on.

Concerning the ATS-V, it has been used as a benchmark for the 1SS Camaro on many occasions. Not just here, nearly ALL automotive conversations about performance involve the ATS-V. Not only that, Randy Pobst is THE most respected magazine driver there is. He always produces the fastest lap times. However, he only ran a 1:39.6 and a 1:40.14. That is in fact slower than R&T's lap at Laguna Seca in a 2012 Boss 302 LS.

In my opinion, if you invest your buying decision based on magazine results, THIS very result would have me concerned. Not only that... the GTPP could possibly handle the ATS-V AND, it would surely hand a 1SS w/MRC it's ass.

I had already witnessed the performance difference between a GTPP and ATS-V first hand on a few occasions. I specifically warned people about it here as well as the ATS-V's Curb Weight.

The whole reason thePill exist is for circumstances like this.

More concern arises when you include the broken z06 and the looming LT4 Camaro. You can't stagger into a GT500 confrontation... If you thought an incredible amount of detail went into the GT350, I'm certain the 500 is "sh!t your pants" insane. The more they remain silent, the bigger and louder the slap is going to be.

I am sure hoping for a twin turbo, auto GT500. I already have a beast with the kenne bell and a built motor, but twins and an auto are the way to go, IMO, for a street/strip car.

5.0 can only go out to a 5.3 IIRC. 5.4 is beyond the capability given the bore spacing

I'd rather have a square bore:stroke ratio anyway. Not all of that 5.4 would come from bore.

Once DI/DDI is available, I'd like to see the Voodoo go down to a 5.0 using a more traditional flat plane stroke.

I'd like the GT500 to go all out to a PTWA 5.0 and an increased stroke... I would love to see a Twin Turbo 5.5 GT500KR.

5.5 I said...

If they are going to go PTWA I hope they put some heavy duty rods/pistons in from the get go. Othyerwise, if the block has any moderate usage, you are looking at sleeving it if you change the pistons/rings. (or at least if you are as paranoid as I am)

You guys are way too serious.

I'd suggest grabbing your car and making a point to these GM guys, it's a fantastic feeling, dragging built LSass for days in basically a bolt on 5.0 that works, I cannot stop smiling

I have spent most of my youth in road racing and it is in road racing that I was least successful.

My last season drag racing was 2014, I sold my drag car last year too. I was with a team in 2014 but didn't race (SCCA AS). The car was wrecked at Pittsburgh International last spring.

I will not return to road racing ever, nor compete in solo. Limited to track and maybe strip but that isn't likely. If I do drag race again, I'm just going to get an S197 of some sort. It doesn't get any better than an S197 at the strip.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy your posts immensely, but I'd give credit where credit is due, that new Camaro is gonna run and be a magazine hit, unfortunately. It's the way of the the GM world, and they like to grease the pockets ;)

We will see... the current media situation doesn't help the future Camaro though. I would say the extent of "Track" performance boasting about the ATS-V would have had Randy going faster at Laguna. Faster than a 1:39.6 and 1:40.1... That 1:39.6 is in the automatic too... How am I to hold the V in such light now seeing it at open course and Randy driving it. Does it feel good? I'm sure it does... Is it as fast as they said it was? No... it's not really that fast at all. Not for $74,000 out the door... Fast for a solid axle, $47,000 Boss 302 sure... The time the ATS-V just posted with Randy driving shouldn't be permitted in the new CTSC GS. It already needs the class to balance around it  now the GT350 and z28 will need 44mm restrictors.

If Randy can run a manual ATS-V at Laguna in 1:40.1, don't expect the 1SS to be any faster.
