I finally picked up my 2021 GT500 a few weeks ago and have noticed some things that make me scratch my head. I’ve previously owned a 2015 GT PP1 Premium, a 2018 GT PP2 Premium, a 2019 Bullitt and a 2021 GT convertible Premium (fiancé’s current car). I’d expect this new car to have pretty much any feature that any of them had plus all the cool stuff from the Shelby but it doesn’t.

Items I‘ve noticed that are either lower quality or missing all together:

White dashboard stitching - We have the base model black faux stitches
White center console knee pad stitching - We have base model black
Door speaker rings (polished) - We have base model doors with no polished ring. Just black plastic
White stitching on floor mats - Ours are black
Polished toggle switches - We have black plastic ones that feel less substantial
Colored Ambient lighting - Missing
Locking center console - Missing
Higher quality dashboard covers, specifically the Bullitt and PP2 dash. The GT500 standard dash should have been nicer.

I may be missing some things but has anyone else noticed this? Maybe it’s just me, but I think an $80k+ car should have the best of every model below it and then some.

Don‘t get me wrong, I love the car, but these things kind of irritate me. Lol

You know it’s interesting how many posts I have read about the unhappiness of the GT500 fit and finish. And guess for the most part I lucked out being to me mine fits the seat of my pants and I just don’t get look at every imperfection. But yeh I get the OP message and not bashing here just commenting how she’s the good old American Performance car. This car is so much fun being it’s just a race ready car like no other I have ever owned. She just radiates bad ass take me to the track and use me it’s over the top incredible satisfaction no other car I have owned and I have owned many in fact to many that has given me this much love and appreciation. Even to the point I purchased mine back😳. Wow Happy Holidays to all here and I am blessed to be able to own and enjoy the Shelby Products more than I ever would have dreamed.

I’m definitely not saying I dislike the car. I just feel like with this being the pinnacle of Mustangs, it should have the best of the best available on the vehicle. To me, the Bullitt’s attention to detail was far better than this one.

I get what you’re saying but in some ways I’m glad it’s the way it is. My panel fit and finish borders on poor. Paint quality is certainly on the lower end of the car spectrum. But that powertrain. I’m glad they did things like 760hp, dual clutch paddle shifted transmission, Magnaride, etc. The car runs lap times comparable to cars costing much more for $80-100k. A good friend has a newer GT3 RS that I’ve driven a few times. Bare bones interior right down to the nylon strap door handles and like that car I don’t notice it’s a “Ford” when I’m driving it

If it's purpose is a luxury street car then it should have the best of everything from all models (this is the BMW of today), but if it's purpose is the beasts of beasts then throw all that glitzy stuff out and provide the best handling and power to weight ratio as possible with an amazing visceral experience for an attractive price; enter the GT500.

I race BMW factory cars and when I bring the GT500 (previously GT350) to a BMW Club track event and unload the GT500 from the transporter to take hot laps people come to the pit wall to watch the GT500, not the BMW factory race car. When I park the car in the paddock people swarm the GT500, they ask one question: can we see what's under the hood. Not a single person looks at the fit an finish or interior bits, other than sitting in the seats and saying how comfortable the Recaros are. This is the car BMW could never build because Germans engineers lack the understanding of a "visceral experience" in their vocabulary.

It's a pretty simple formula: when I sit in the Recaro seats of my GT500 CFTP they feel awesome, the seating position and steering wheel feel's awesome too, so there is only one thing that comes to mind: LET'S GO! The interior simply disappears when on track as it should or when on the open road searching for the next gas station listening to Bach going mad under the hood! :)

I would say Ford's performance side (aside from the GT) is rather shortcoming in premium feel with a main focus on performance and then tie everything up with a decent/exclusive interior that doesn't tread into supercar territory pricing. My FiST was pretty much the same - basically a hatch SE with a turbo motor and sporty stuff, but the interior remained rather basic aside from Recaro's as an option. I'd say 760hp on tap matted to a DCT would make up for the very slight shortcomings with the interior though lol.

I love this truck! I watched your Youtube video on it. If I could afford it, would have one as my daily driver. Do you think it would handle well in snow if the tires were swapped out for winter tires, because the truck is 4X4, correct?
You have a nice collection of vehicles man. Enjoy.

I agree with you 100%. All about profit. This car should have all the comforts and options of the lesser, let alone older 2014 and under cars. Those still had ambient lighting. I think it's pathetic and unacceptable. So for the $3000 tech pack, we get a few more speakers, a puddle lamp, blind spot monitoring and maybe something else. What a deal. lol

Thank you and yes she’s 4 wheel drive and for sure the correct winter tires she would do fine as long as it’s not a deep deep snow.
