Question, but first, this is interesting as well.
The prototype GT350's use Carbon Fiber roofs (similar to the M4). This isn't the first time we have heard of some unique equipment on the GT350 that didn't make the budget cut. Carbon Ceramic rotors and a Carbon Fiber roof could have been a few pounds for sure.
My question is, why is it such a big deal about the Mustang using a CF roof while the Camaro GS.R had nearly all its panels replaced with CF.
I would love to get my hands on the Pratt-Miller equipment for the z28.R. The Camaro GS.R weighed 3400lbs and it required Carbon Fiber panels to do it. Now, the z28.R takes its place and initially at 3400lbs. All with heavier equipment overall... Even though IMSA no longer adds that info to the spec sheet, I suspect Pratt equiped the z28.R with CF panels as well.
It's fine if they use Carbon Fiber all over the exterior but the Mustang can't use a CF roof? None of the GS.R or z28.R panels needed removed...
